Your myLot reputation - how important is it to you?

Hi people. I know the rating system here is based on reputation - and comes from a feedback system. It can be extremely unreliable, with people just pressing the minus when they dislike a person, rather than looking at what is said in discussion.
So, please do tell - how important is your myLot reputation to you?
Happy myLotting!

Rating?!! What's that?!! Where do I find it? Honestly I just question, comment and answer here and take care not to hurt anyone, follow guidelines and I suppose when one does that all is hunky dory?

Beside each post are three boxes +/-/! which can be used by others to rate your posts.
Your star is a direct result of how other Lotters have rated your posts.
You can learn more about the rating system here, how to use it and how it affects earnings too.

First of all, i would like to welcome you here in the site.I hope you are enjoying
posting your discussion here. Reputation here in the site is very important. When you have a good reputation here, you get many responses in the discussions that you make because they believe in you. It is so sad that there are some members who
marked other members minus without valid reason, they just want to do it since they do not like the member, which is not fair.We are one family here, we should help one another. The only time that we should only give negative reputation for those members who violates the guidelines of mylot.I hope this helps.happy mylotting!!

Welcome to mylot, sunlight!
I really don't care what the number or color of my star is. I participate in many discussion in the Politics topic where folks do rate you with a minus simply because they disagree with your opinions. If I cared about the rating I would stop posting there since I was a perfect 10 before I started sharing my views. Your ranking doesn't earn you any more...or less... money so it really serves no purpose to have it.

The FAQs state that "The DRS is factored into our proprietary earnings algorithm, so this will help us properly reward valuable contributions to the myLot community."
Quite how it is 'factored in', we are not told (and asked not to discuss) but the ratings that people give for our responses, comments and discussions certainly can have an effect on our earnings.

Hi sunlight, as you've been told the higher the reputation you more you earn and your reputation is based on the ratings you receive. I would say it is a sign that you are reliable and most likely to respond to your own discussions. Unfortunately it is open to abuse by people unjustly using the negative rating button but that also effects their own rating in a negative way too. So if you work within the guidelines and make quality posts and discussions you are more likely to be highly rated.

I never cared of the reputation, I see it's become a nine but I don't think I even did anything to raise it. So...I don't mind.
If numbers are the subject, I look more at the $$ shown in the upper bar than the number on the star!!

hey sunlight..
welcome to mylot.. well i guess at first i was kind of like you.. i dont know what the star on myleft represents.. and then one day i was surprised i had one too.. well i guess i got this a few days ago since i joined here last week.. its very important coz you see, people with high reps get more responses coz their discussions are reliable.. some people i guess are looking for the posts of people who have already established themselves to be credible enough.. so yeah i guess it means a lot to them.. have a nice day man.. and happy mylotting..

It is pretty important to me, for some reason. Just yesterday I went from a 93 to a 92 and it broke my heart a little, lol. I like to feel that I am contributing useful information and interesting topics. The reputation rating system lets me know if I am doing that or not.

I wouldn't worry to much about your rating, as you are doing pretty well, and it does affect our earnings, as thehigher the rating, the higher your earnings. I strted at a 3, and it took a very long time for mine to get to where it is at right now. I just respond, follow the rules, and don't bother anyone. It all depends on the quality of the posts too, and the answers given as if a person doesn't answer the topic given, then they might get a negative. I always rate positive, unless someone posts a referral link, then I will give them a negative for that one. I like to help others as we are all trying to earn here, so if is quality, they will get a positive rating. Good luck to you and happy mylotting.

I know that it has something to say on the quality of myLotters' discussion posts/responses. But I could not really assure it's reliability as it is highly subjective on readers' personal judgment.
In my case, I could only ensure of one thing - respect for the ideas of other myLotters. I may not always agree to everything they say, but I will be open-minded to their opinions.
