Do you really enjoy your work?

I'm just wondering...many people can relate to this...only few people really enjoy their work, most people only endure their work, have a get by mentality...just to pay the bills...to send my son/daughter to school, to buy my needs, etc. etc..but not really enjoying their work because of some reasons:
1. They did not get a fair salary or earning a much higher salary
2. They are not getting any promotion
3. They are not applying or putting into practice what they learned in school because they got into other field of work
4. they were forced to do the workload
5. They have no choice, because they lack the knowledge or competence..so they just settle for the job they have chosen
6. can you think of other reasons if you're not enjoying your work?
But on the other side...if you are enjoying your work...share your experiences why you're "really" enjoying it!
As for me...before, I used to complain and I'm only enduring my work...but now..I'm learning to enjoy it every single day! I'm learning to serve and work as if I'm working for the Lord, despite of the disappointments sometimes..it's part of life and we are work in Progress.

In my case, the answer is easy: I really enjoy my work. It is a job you choose to do only if you have a real passion or interest for the subject. It's not one of those things you do just so it gets done and you get your paycheck at the end of the month.
To be more specific, I'm a landscape architect. I design gardens, parks and public spaces.
Six years ago, when I started college I was sure I wanted to be an architect and design houses and great buildings. After the first year, I learnt about landscape design and I chose it as a speciality. I love everything related to art and design, but I love architecture the most.
This makes my job very easy and pleasent!Though my boss isn't the ideal one and there are many hardships I have to overcome, my pasion for my work makes them worth my while

I do enjoy my work right now. Unlike my previous jobs where was too much pressure, my job now is more enjoyable. Besides, i work only from Monday to thursday from 8:00AM till 2:30PM.
Have a good day.

well, i would say i enjoy the work and my colleagues...
BUT i do NOT enjoy those people above me..
when i entered the job, i was suppose to only serve 1 boss. But somehow or another, i ended up having to serve 3 to 4 bosses who refuse to communicate with each other hence over-writing each other's instruction. And when things go wrong, people down the line (me) get the crap.

I have to admit I really enjoy my work. I recently changed jobs and am in the customer service industry once again, however, I am in a different type of enviroment than I have before when it comes to this industry. I am in hospitality. I work for a ranch/conference center. It is amazing how different this environment truely is.
I'm in a position where I can help people take a break and actually enjoy themselves. This helps me feel good about what I am doing.

I have been one of the lucky few to enjoy every job I have ever had, with the exception of one in which illegal activity was going on. Consequently, I resigned my position. Now I am a freelance writer and love the job and flexibility it offers! Becdmd, even though I am not religious, I do agree with your last point in that we must strive for doing our best in everything we do. Everything happens for a reason, and we can always learn something from every situation.

I love all my jobs. Call me weird or blessed. I have been placed where I am to be and money, well I am always provided with what I need to survive and always very thankful I am not homeless. I have been homeless before so maybe that is why things are so precious to me.
Good topic.

What a sad reflection on life. I am sure most people find their jobs satisfying if not actually enjoyable. I enjoyed most of the jobs I did. Of course there were times when things went wrong and then it was not so good but mostly it was good and I met a lot of great people and few idiots who may have been a problem at the time but who one can laugh about later. To be frank I think your problem is not the job but yourself which is illustrated by your closing remarks that you are working as if you are working for "The Lord" Just who the heck it that? Why not work for yourself and your family and get into the real world. You may just feel a whole lot better

Most people endure their work, and not really enjoy it very much. For most of my life that's what I did also. I was lucky enough to get a new job three years ago that I really liked. I can honestly say that I enjoy it.

I have to admit recently I have not been enjoying work thus I have a hard time waking up and enjoying the day. Thinking of what I am going to do for the day makes me want to just stay on bed and sleep for hours instead. I am looking for another job that I really want to enjoy it instead of getting bored every time.

Damn, if I'm not enjoying my work, they no one would ever be. I loved my work second to my family. If I don't loved it, then that would have a devastating effect not for me but for my family. I loved mo\y line of work today even if there are things that does not met my expectation.

I'm the kind that doesn't enjoy work. Apart from the reasons you stated, another thing that makes me not to enjoy is that the bosses and the people who act as if they were bosses only point out at the bad things that workers do, but when they do a good job, they will never get even a simple smile or a "thank you". Thanks to bosses like that some companies look more like a jail than like an office. It's important to make your workers feel good at work, or they will began working worse as they're not going to get any rewarding feeling.

as of the moment i dont have the choice but to enjoy it. The nature of my work really pressure me a lot. everyday you deal with people talk to them, mingle with them and other stuff. and i cant a find a job that suite me, so for the meantime for 4 years im still here. but infairness this job pays me and make my stomach full so i dont have the right to complain. like what i have said i will have to enjoy my work.

hi becdmd^^;;
looking for a satisfying job here in my country is really hard. though some people manage to get a good paying job some are still struggling to find job that not would sustain their financial needs. i say this because basically, people look for jobs because of survival. i have known a few and only a few that they consider passion.
I myself have into different kinds of job and industry. some wererelated to what i graduated and some were totally different. so it's the stability i was looking for.
i manage to enjoy some, but as you said, the promotion is limited so i tried one to the other until i have this job which actually never occurred to me i would fall into this kind. but honestly, this job that i have now was the longest so far. it's been almost 3years until now. i work freelance now at home. some part i enjoy it but sometimes it's kinda frustrating. though it's the best one i got.
i think we shouldn't actually choose the best job, but we look for something we really fit in.

Hi becdmd!
The job i had is not the job i dreamed of, but I used to love it before i quit!
Honestly, my boss is really great and she became a friend of mine.
My salary is good, at least, I have no complain about it.
I got promoted after 8 months of being in the company.
My co workers are friendly and easy to deal with.
I was so happy that I have been in the that company.
There are lots of good reasons why i should stay with my job but i choose not to, which made me even more happier
