Saving money Part 2

I'm back again, ran out of room on my first saving money.
So here is number 2....
1) I have been into mylot and have changed my earnings so instead of being paid at $10(have in the past made this and a bit more at payout time) as I normally am I have changed it to $100. So that means all that I earn from now and next November or December will be put towards next christmas and shopping on line. I won't miss the money as I like to chat here for fun and its the only place where I chat etc and get paid for it so thought I would use mylot for my next years christmas box.
So that is my number 2 good idea, if you have read my number 1 idea (about library books) you will see that I asked for us to brainstorm and come up with some more good ideas.

I am very frugal. I may have said it before but my favourite tip is to save all of my change and at Christmas I have always had enough for a turkey and ham and roasting chicken. I did so well this year as I have just changed out my money that I am putting my change in a container already for next Christmas.
Next a small bottle of hydrogen peroxide will clean most things. Just put some in a spray bottle for cleaning surfaces etc with water. Read fine print for moire info.
Vinegar is used a lot in my house to clean THE FLOOR TILES ETC.
Always use half of recommended amount of detergent in washing machine and always wash on cold cycle and the shortest possible cycle for clean clothes. I too have not yet taken my amount for Mylot - but this is because I have really messed up my account with pay pal and haven't yet worked out how to rectify it!

Cynthiann, I applaud you on your use of hydrogen peroxide and vinegar for household use and I would add baking soda as another inexpensive but indispensable household helper. So do you call that a TurHamKen? Just kidding. My kin's family feast was turducken, but I stayed home as it was too far to travel with the gas prices this year.

That is good word - I will adopt it. Yes, baking soda is very good too. I would not be entering any home that served duck unless they were serving an alternative meat.

Hey, that's a good idea. I've considered putting the payout to $100.00 but my husband and I were first waiting until after I wedding (I believe) and then now after Christmas. I think it'd be safe for me to put it at $100.00 but I'd have to ask hubby his opinion. That and I also think that I'd rather be able to earn say $50.00 a month here before I put the total at $100.00.
In any case, I'm sorry I forgot to brainstorm on the last discussion.
My husband and I are buying on amazon and using amazon gift cards we earn online to pay for some of our purchases. You can save these codes in your amazon account and then when you get ready to purchase something you can use them or wait. Amazon has great deals, great shipping and often has super saver shipping for free with bulk orders!
Now another thing is to get a can of pringles and eat them (not all in one setting) but place the money in the cans. We had a friend at one time who mentioned that to us, and we thought it was a great idea. Now we do that and though we haven't been saving it helps. We also have envelopes in our closet to divide our money and place it in the door. We have a bill folder, and we have a lot of folders we no longer need.

That Pringles can idea is great! I am already saving coins in plastic bottles (so that they are harder to get out... you need to cut the bottle open to get to them), but I haven't found a good way to save bills yet. But that idea sounds really cool! I might try it!

I have lots of money saving ideas, so here goes -
Turn the temperature down on radiators.
When the heating is on, close all doors and windows.
If you over boil the kettle, put the extra water in a thermos flak and use for your next brew.
Watch TV in the dark.
Go food shopping when items are reduced and buy stuff that can be frozen.

somebody advised me that when using shapoo, measure and amount mix it with enough water and store it is a bottle for use. so instead of directly using pure shampoo on your use instead the premix... Y not?

hmmm...I keep my payout at $10...but then I rarely use my paypal account. Right now we are just accumulating money in there as we don't really want to spend any money.

Like your idea of raising your payout amount and being paid after you earn $100.00. Good way to save for next Christmas. When you have time, please see the link on my profile page. No charge to join and you can let the money sit in your PayPal account once you reach payout. It works for me.

That sounds like a good idea. Many of us tend to spend money as we get it. That's mainly where the problem lies. If we could avoid spending the Mylot money as we get it, it would be better to take it every 10 dollars we make though.
If we wait until we have 100, then that's all we have. But if you have a bank account that pays some interest (some accounts do), then putting the 10 into that account as you get it will end up giving you more than 100 by the end of the year. Leaving it in Mylot gives you no interest.

As of now I have used my online earnings to buy the presents that I have got. I think it's a great idea to save for a whole year. I'm like you, I like being here so the money is really just a perk. I do a few different things online..nothing huge but I do get paid. It has come in handy at times.

-Download warez instead of paid software. ( Unless the police is behind your back)
-Go to a second hand shop regularly when you need something. Check out whether what you're looking for is sold there.
-Don't buy products from the most expensive brand, it's cheaper to go for the lesser known brands. ;-)
Perhaps that's just a bit too general. :-)

Saving money? It's can be done in everyday.
You can buy non known brand clothes from small stores.
Don't think about any expensive or luxurious jewelly.
Watching film at home internet instead of going to theater.
Don't throw away some old things ,maybe next day, they will become useful again.
Go to website like mylot to earn extra money.

That is a nice idea actually, I might do that too. I am still new here so I haven't figured out the best way to handle my earnings here yet, but this is definitely a suggestion I will take into consideration. Thanks for the tip!
