Children to be treated as such

This is quite a good question, that often baffles parents when their children are young, and often upsets and confuses them when their kids are grown up. I have seen the interactions of my friends with their parents and I have found that the parents that act and interact with their children as if they were the same age as their kids have a far better relationship with their children. Conversely, parents who decide to be authoritative and controlling towards their kids and talk to them as if they are older and wiser than their children end up having a poorer relationship with their kids. This is because the children are unable to relate to their parents, are unable to tell them things that concern them because they are afraid that they're parents will not understand and get upset. So if you are to become a parent, my advice would be to treat them like they were your friend. Continue this well into they're adult life. They will tell you things that concern them like they would tell a friend, openly and with out fear and you too can rely on them for advice when times are tough.

per my personal experience as a mother of two kids... when they started talking, no more baby talks at home. we dealt with them adult dialogues. This is part of training them to talk straight and develop the confidence in dialogues. It worked for our kids. Yes they are both special but they tried to talk and deal with us in an adult way--with love and respect!

The away I talk to my son like an adult in order for him to talk straight than bay talking to him that makes him mature in thinking soon.
