Tonight I was opening a can of cat food for the feral cats outside, it was dark but I opened it and felt pain, I wasn't sure if i had cut myself until my finger felt wet, i went inside and saw that I was bleeding, a lot, it was dripping all over the place. Took awhile to stop bleeding as well. Well I nearly fainted, I just can't stand my own blood.....so what is your reaction when you see your own blood?

Hi! I have no problems with seeing my own blood. I have bleeded many, many time, because I have thin capillaries and during the summer my nose bleeds very often. I even like tasting my blood, I like its taste( I haven't tasted someone else's blood , I'm not a vampire), but I don't know why. It has a strange taste- like iron.

not much fun when you cut your self on a can, i've come close a few times. i had a blood test done early this week, right arm doesn't give anymore. she had to use my left, and i hate needles, but the nurse took enough blood. i eventually looked at what she was doing, but it was the needle that hurt me. got 2 sore arms out of it as well.

I hate having blood taken as well, I haven't had too very often but everytime it hurt and left a bruise afterwards. I just generally am a wimp when it comes to pain, I have had an IV before and that hurt too. Well I hope that you don't have to have anymore blood tests done, and thanks for the response

it just normal for me as i am a girl and every month i have my period. i learn a lot about blood which is very painless. but when it talk about being wounded i am not fell nervous as i just put medicine on the wounded skin and if their is blood i just rub it with cotton. though in crime scenes where their are lot of blood i do not fear it and only the smell of blood annoy me. it really smell sucks which could end up vomiting if too much blood is splattered though i am pretty strong would never feel afraid even i see one. it's normal for my job to see blood as i am already train to assist on the wounded as my course is related to medical. somehow i am already immune to see blood.

I get faint when I see my own blood. But when I see one of my kids bleeding I can't even put a band aid on them. I get upset on my stomach, and I get a headache and it's like I can feel there pain when I see there blood.

I don't mind the sight of my own blood, in fact I find it quite interesting as I have a bit of a scientific mind.

I don't let it worry me, I take it as a sign to fix whatever problem it is that I am having, that is causing me to bleed in the first place. I will do what i need to do to stop the blood, to clean the area, disinfect it, and make sure that the problem does not reoccur.

Well, I feel like there is a problem. Also, if there is blood, I usually feel pain. The only time I see my own blood and there isn't a problem, and very little pain, is when I donate blood. After that I usually feel a little dizzy for a few minutes, but it goes away fast.
I'm not one of those who is really phased by seeing my own blood. I would only worry if I lost too much of it, but a little is no big deal. As I said, I'm more concerned as to what other problem the blood loss may indicate.

Depends on how much there is. If its a whole lot then I will worry until I clean up the place its coming from and see its really not that serious. The blood doesn't freak me out so much as the wound and other peoples bothers me more. I can't stand when someone is picking at their wound because it makes me think of pain.

Well, I am a woman, so I am used to seeing my own blood. It's different for women than for men- men never have cause to see their own blood, so when they do, its a shock. Women see blood, and a lot of it, every month. So I know its in me, and I take it in stride. When I'm actually cut, it's never anywhere near as much blood as I'm used to dealing with every month naturally. So it isn't as scary then. If I get any injury, while I will feel like "Darn, I cut myself" I just take it in stride and put on a bandaid.

I would clean the cut and then put a bandaide on it. I do not mine seeing my blood as long as it is not a real bad cut and I can stop the bleeding.

Well that's depend on the action or the situation happen, actually fear comes in when you see the blood flows from any part of your body cause by incision or wound, when you see a blood contained in blood bag, I think its ordinary but when it comes from cuts or wound that's fearful.

That is very intelligent and I never thought about it like that, that its fear that you might be badly hurt, that it might just be a natural reaction from the brain, thank you for the response :)

Hello, sorry to here that.I think everyone has something to fear. Some people fear water, some people fear height, some people fear dark...
To me,it depends, when I am in the fight with someone else,I think it will only get myself excited when I see the blood bleeding, but when I am alone,I got myself hurt or wounded, when I see the blood,I'll be worried about if it is bleeding too much.I will be fearful if I saw the blood bleed for a long time and never stop..................

It really doesn't bother me at all. Seeing blood, whether it's mine or someone else', it's not something that really bothers me. I don't know why, but it never really has. I guess I'm just so used to getting hurt or seeing someone else get hurt and taking care of it or something like that.

One of the liquids that I am afraid of is blood. Every time I can see it, I close my eyes until its gone.In concerning with my own blood, i have experienced it before, just like what the first responder says,I also licked it. It is kinda salty, but I am afraid that many bloods will come out so I decided to continue licking it until its gone. Licking blood is actually case to case basis, if it bitten by a dog or a snake,of course we should not lick it, if we were freak by a needle, we can lick it but we should check if the needle is clean.

I am not really scared of seeing my blood.I would be scared if I get a cut and I don't see my blood.even if there is a lot of blood,I don't get dizzy or nauseated.I think that seeing blood is seeing life.getting cut might sting, but I will be relieved if I bleed, because it means I am human.

Hello spicysweetie21 this is checkmail and mine nature is fluctuating in general when I see mine blood. If its the blood seen when its an medical check up, than its a little bit of fear, else nothing. And when see mine blood due to some injury its an honour for me, act more tough. So both effects are natural according to its presence in our body. But am still surprised at seeing it as its so dark when collected for checkup and so faint and thick when comes out due to injury.

I can stand my own blood well, but I can't when it's other person's blood.
Maybe is because I know when mine has stopped dripping, but you don't know when the injured person is other, and that makes me feel dizzy.
