i was told yesterday i use the word respect too much, how people dont show proper respect. my wife and her mom told me i use the word respect too much, its nothing to do with respect but having manners, or not having manner or being ill manner and rude.
like on thanksgiving my daughter in law and son gave my mother in law and card my oldest grandson made and it had a picture of them in it with both grandsons, to me that was disrespectful but my wife and her mom said its not that was rude.
to me having manner, treat other proper is having respect and not treating other right or being illmanner isnt having respect.
so what you think is being well manner to others is the same as having respect and being rude to other is being disrespectful ?

Respect for me is showing someone you think that their postand stature is one in which you will always try to be polite. The person is someone you hold in high esteem because you see them as worth of some amount of praise and adoration .Some person you will respcet by virtue of age ,post and maturity .You will repsect your parents because they are your parents ,thats their post .You will respect mr jones down the road because he is old an experienced .Youw ill respect your supervisor because that is her posts. And then there are some persons you respect because of their maturity and action for example a friend who is decent and responsible. It is difficult though to separate rudeness from respect because you wouldnt normally be rude to someone you respect but then there may be extenuating circumstances and that person may have overstepped their bounds at a particular time and cause you to act in that manner

I think respect is earned not and not imposed hehe. But in my organization where seniority is important, during one's probationary member days, respect is imposed towards their seniors. And after one becomes a full pledge member, it is the time you choose who deserves your respect and who doesn't.
