I mainly download things through torrents and i use bittorrent for tat...
And for direct downloads i use free download manager[FDM]

My favourite method of download is not through downloading software, but through direct web download. Websites like Megaupload or Rapidshare provide usually better results for me than downloading softwares, as you don't need people currently online sharing the file.
