When do you put up your christmas decorations?

So it's coming up to the festive season and lights are being hung and gifts bought. When do you usually decorate your house for christmas. Do you do it weeks in advance or on christmas eve. We are putting ours up this weekend.

simple Christmas tree - our pet kittens atop the Christmas tree that we have just put up
We have put up our Christmas tree in the house last week. We usually do it early. It has been this way in the Philippines. They say we have the longest Christmas season ... people like it! When the "ber" months arrive (starting with September..), the department stores, malls and radio stations start to play Christmas songs. Most people in our province take off the Christmas decor as late as January or February.

My family puts Christmas decorations up around the first week of December, and then put them away the day after New Years. If we put them up any later, it would feel like we have to put them away right away again. w

I kknow the feeling, it takes about 3 days to put ours up so we do it far in advance so we get to appreciate them for long enough.

I get so sick of Christmas because its way, way, over done! Christmas music is already ruining the grocery shopping experience in our Supermarkets, and its not even December Yet. Why, why is it necessary to overdo all the best tings in life? Why do people put up with this commercialization of Christmas? Home decorations are every bit as bad! This silliness cannot be blamed on Organized religion, (although Religion does encourage it!) Its just grownup people acting like kids, who should know better and be setting an example! I Hate Christmas trees too! What a great waste of Trees, when we need them so badly in our polluted environment! Bah Humbug!

whats wrong with grownups acting like kids? what example do you want them to set? that adults cant have a bit of fun? that sounds like a rather boring point of view to me. Also the majority of christmas trees are grown specially for the occasion, not to mention that lots of people use artificial trees. Furthermore, to be quite frank what joy could you possibly get from grocery shopping to the point that cheery festive music would ruin it for you? Do your friday nights involve roaming the aisles of Asda?

I always wait until the week before. I am lazy, and don't feel like it's too important where I live(no one sees my house).
