I do not care if I gave the best response the discussion can still go on

Sometimes I see a discussion that has been given a best response, but I do not think that discussion is over, so I will answer it anyway. Yet there are some who feel that once the best response is given, the discussion is over especially if they do not agree with the poster. Sometimes I will give as best response because of the ranters but I will go back and comment on anyone who has answered the post. You see, I sometimes cannot think of new things to talk about and sometimes I cannot find any good posts to respond to that I will be able to do at length.
And sometimes the discussion needs a fresh voice and different opinion anyway. What do you all think?

That is a good one.Best discussions never come in my way of responding or raising discussions.I always consider them as just a part of the game. What I think is that the show must go on.A discussion that has won a BR already never deterred me from responding to that particular discussion provided it is interesting enough to grab my attention.I just never care for the BR.

I can never understand why getting a best response or finding a best response in the discussion should stop anyone from keeping responding and continuing the discussion. And that bothers me even if it is you who gave the best response and wondered why it stopped already? Did they join myLot just to get the best response and so that they could say their response mattered? It does not make sense to me.

I don't either. I will answer discussions and read replies to my discussions after the best response has been made. Sometimes we have something to contribute and missed it when it first came out.

That is what happens to me. I am so busy that I hardly have time to get all the discussions when they first come out and by the time it does it has the best response. Also sometimes someone wants to make a new friend and so goes to their profile page, finds a discussion they like and answers it, and it gets back on the top of the list even though it may be a year old. I have done that myself.

hi thoroughrob and suspenseful I have often gone to some thats once more come up on top and realized I had never responded to it for some reason and it was really interesting to me too.. I love it when someone does that to some of my own old discussions too. Its fun to comment back to fresh responses on old discussions of your own.

I respond to discussions long after a best response has been given, because I have an opinion to offer. If I happen to respond to something before a best response has been given, it's also because I have an opinion to express. If I happen to get a best response, then great, but that's not why I'm on here.

I got a few best responses and sometimes think "what were they thinking?" anyway I am not here for the best response, but for the discussion. The same way, I get disappointed if after I get one or give one that the discussion just goes flat. And it is more disappointing if I started the discussion and wanted as much responses as possible and only get a few.

I also don't care if the topic is already through. Me I do read those responses I received from my started discussion eventhough my discussion have already have a best responser. we can never give back the mark i have given to my best responser but I still can appreciate the response of the responser for reading my discussion and still for thinking of helping me if my topic is about my problem. As a responser to discussion I still response to it even the topic starter already chose the best responser, for me it matters that I can voice out my opinion, maybe he or she can accept my response and consider it. For me it is okay. My topic will still go on.

Sometimes I find that after I have a best response, someone else had a better solution, and I usually wait for a few days at least unless hardly anyone responds and it could go one for a month or so. So I really am disappointed when no one answers after a best response. I feel if you had to wait for answers, they could have at least not figured that the discussion is over.

It does make it rather annoying, because when I see a best response on someone else's discussion I expect that that person had some knowledge or that the best response would help anyone in the same or similar situation, but to give a best response because you are tired or because so and so is your best friend on mylot and you do not want to hurt their feelings, that is wrong.

same is the case with me....if i want to reply i reply in any case...sometimes i go to very old discussions which i had missed due to lack of time when it was started..like i am doing now....and i mostly come from my mail-box....so i don't know whether the discussion is resolved or not..and i hardly check it after posting the response also...what is important to me is that i do my best while responding and if i accidentally get best response then i just go to the page to check what i had written

I find that sometimes my discussions run out of steam and then a few weeks later, pick up, or I can think of nothing to comment on them at first. Also when I first started mylot I thought comments meant a thank you. I did get best responses a number of times, but I am more interested in writing something that helps the other person or getting them to find out why it is happening - I guess I am one of those people who likes to poke their nose into other people's business.

I know what you mean. I have had people ask me if it is okay to respond to one that has been marked and I said, why not. It doesn't make any difference. Marking or getting a mark of best response doesn't help our earnings in any way so why would it make the discussion over.
I don't start very many discussions any more because I don't have much time since I am now working offline, full time. So I just respond to a few discussions and I don't even look to see if they are marked yet with best response. I don't even notice, I just respond to anything I have something to say to.

Oh when I go to respond to a discussion, i do not check to see if anyone got the best response or go and see what they wrote. I do get annoyed when someone started a discussion a few hours ago and has already given the best response. I sort of figure they are the kind who probably assumes that once a best response has been given, thinks that we are running out of resources on earth, is a little very greedy, or has myLot confused with another forum that once a best response has been given there or an equivalent, the subject is closed.

That is so true. MyLot is a discussion group and no one should stop one from not continuing a discussion. Sometimes what we really want to know does not come until much latter and sometimes I do give a time limit on when I give a best response and others do the same.

I do not mind as long as one is not forced to do it because someone called them names and was very virulent against them or if they just did it when there were only two responses. Just give it enough time so that we can get a good idea that the best response was not given without thinking.

I respond to any discussion which gets my attention. If the best response has already been granted, it makes no difference to the discussion, although sometimes it seems that once the BR has been given, the poster treats it as finished and does not return comments to any new comments received.
I also sometimes go through the older discussions of my friends, looking for really good discussions that might have been buried, and respond in an effort to bring them back to notice.

I think it is because they feel that myLot is like those other forums when a discussion is considered closed. Mind you if I had the time I would go searching for other discussions. I sort of feel there is not that many good ones near the end of the Month.

I couldn't agree more. In fact, if or not a best response has been awarded, has no effect on whether I respond or not. I will only respond when I feel I have something to add to the discussion.

If we just stopped responding when someone gave a best discussion, that instead of being a place to share ideas and conversation, myLot would be more of a contest site And I would not like that.

I agree. I will post to whatever catches my attention, regardless. Sometimes, it can even be an older post. Most people will not do so, if a discussion has been awarded best response already, they will not bother. I think I have only been given that one time, and it was on one that few others replied to. I suppose they think it is a waste of time, but to me, it is more of a waste to hunt down the discussions that have not been decided.

If I find a discussion that interests me, I will respond to it, best response or not. The trouble is that I have a limited amount of time so I cannot go to all the discussions that I want to answer and sometimes by the time I do they have already given the best response But I am not hear to get the best response or the things that mylot deletes you if you complain or talk about them. I am here because I love to be here and I love to write.

you are right, the discussion still continues despite the mark as best answer, but our opinion is very varied and unique. if I have something want to share then I'll going to put it in the discussion.

Yes the discussion is not over because I or someone else gave a best response. Often we find there is more to the discussions and they sort of have a life of their own so why discourage them. There are so many opinions and ideas and myLot is one of the few places where we can spread these ideas.

I do find it hard to start a new discussion, but I can comment on the responses to the discussions I started. I have tried to start new ones, and often I wonder how there are some who can do two to three pages of new discussions because if they are like me, and comment on all of the ones that respond to them, they will not get any sleep for a week and then some.

I find it hard in that I am the type of person who will not start unless I feel it is exciting or something that I am really worried about. I also find that when I am starting a discussion someone always get it wrong no matter how clear I write it. I was considering going back to my D*ck and Jane primers I had in Grade One and write in that manner, but unfortunately I have moved so much that those text boons are gone.

I like to answer anyways.I even have answered a discussion from three years ago. They usually don't comment back so maybe some people aren't on here anymore from 3 years ago.I did get a comment back from a discussion from one year ago though. It suprised me.I don't think a discussion is ever closed as longt as you're allowed to respond to it.

I have given comments back to discussions that were a year old and have done the catching up on the comments. I think many of us have done it because if you get a whole lot of answers it is overwhelming, and you feel you cannot give a decent comment at the time so you go on to the my friends discussion. That is why I feel the discussion could go on forever.

It is not for me. I feel the one who gave the best response had a specific question he or she wanted answered, or wanted someone to give the response in the way that would not make them feel too bad or gave then the information they wanted. But there are others on the way who really want to know something else and that is where the discussion can go on. You give a comment, someone asks a question, and it goes on and on.

It works better that way because often I find myself answering the first post so I have to be careful if all my responses came in the emails. Of course that would leave me little time to do anything else. So it is usually better to go to the main page and then go through the tags on top. Right now, I am working on my comments and have a lot of pages to go through and seldom start a new discussion unless something important comes up.

I get the respond to those who commented on your response through the email and the rest I can see on the home page since they have a different name except mine on the discussions I started. I just respond to whomever, no matter if they have given a best response or not.

Hello Suspenseful,
There are lot of people who participate in mylot forum. But not all people who are here are just after of expressing their selves. Others came here for a reason of earning money, while others want to seek advises/solution to their problems, others to make friends and acquaintances and etc.
So in my case, I think it depends on the topic. If the topic seeks advise and immediate solution, I think it is not worth to continue the discussion once it is being resolved or best response is chosen.
But if it is about sharing our opinions and thoughts or experiences, well, I don't think it would matter whether it is already marked or not marked with best response. When it comes to expressing our own opinions, thoughts or views in life, or sharing our experiences there is no right or wrong there is no right or wrong.
It maybe depends on what we think about best response. If we think of it as a competition and all you want to is to have that best response marked, then I am sure we will no longer want to respond in discussion already marked. But if you come here for the sake of expressing your opinions and you enjoy it here, well you would response no matter what so long as you think you have something to share with that certain topic.

It seems that some seem to have the idea that if you are here for the cash, you do not need to put as much effort and that is why there are so many beginners getting warnings from the older members to make sure they write more and not just repeat themselves and especially not write discussions where the answer could be just yes or no. I do think that it is best to keep the discussion going on and not to have a competition as you say. I sort of got it, but I do think it was your English was not that clear.
For me, the best response is the first who answered the question or gave the information I wanted to know in such a way that I could go and find it. That means giving me the link to the subject if online, writing in their own words, being sympathetic but honest, etc. and no ranting. It is not about competition. It is about that I get rather annoyed when someone thinks, "oh no, my response will not matter, the discussion is over!" and then they do not respond. To me, the only reason people should not respond is if they are not interested, cannot say anything except nonsense, or they have to go to work and someone is telling them to get off the computer!

Really I do not care if the subject has resolved. Often we feel it is, but when one looks deeper, there is more to it then just a short answer. If the best response is given, often it is given because the subject has not been resolved and the poster gets rather tired of waiting and going through all their unresolved discussions. This is not a closed subject forum where once a best response is given nothing more can be said.
Then there are those who think that i am the one who thinks of this as a competition like the ones who complain at the beginning of the month when they or the ones who were disappointed that -but that is not me.

Hello suspenseful,
I didn't mean that you are after for competition. Maybe it just the way I organized my wordings. I am not too good in English. What I mean is not all people here come on the same purpose or is having the same perspective about that best response thing. Some view it as a competition, and some just didn't care about best responses, they want to express their selves or to enjoy and make friends.
With regards to discussion- to continue or to end it after the best response is awarded, I said it depends on the topic started. But of course we can still response if we want to, nobody can stop us. I response to any discussion that caught my interest. I don't care when it is posted or whether or not best response is already awarded.

May be the adminstration thinkis its the best response but people dont agree with it and that why they keep on responding. Or may be they are not aware that it is a rule once the best response is there they should stop. What one can do is to make them aware of the rules and regulations etc

It is the one who starts the discussion who gives the best response and the discussion does not stop once the best response is given. That is why myLot is different from other forums where you get the notice "the subject is closed." Here the subject is never closed. Amd if you read the guidelines, it does not say
"once the best response is given, that discussion is finished," (I can think of reasons why someone would want that rule to be put in, but it is against myLot's guidellnes for me to say so.) Also mylot does not have a "delete this best response' that might help when someone gives a best response and says "oops that response is better!"
Besides I do not think that would work as it might bring in a lot of emnity between myLotters.

Hello Suspenseful. I like you don't think that a discussion is over because I give a best response I thought that you couldn't have unresolved discussions when it comes time for pay out that is why I give the BR. I will still answer those that respond to my discussion after I give the BR. I go to discussions I have seen on here for awhile because I find it a good discussion even if it has a BR. I am mainly looking at discussions to learn how to be here on my lot. I like learning new things.

I felt that once you gave the best response, that the discussion was over, and that it impacted your earnings, just like those who worry about that topic that myLot often deletes as it violates the guidelines.
Luckily I was wrong. And I will respond on the discussion no matter what if it is very interesting to me.

Hi Suspenseful. I like looking at the older discussions so I can learn how to do things the way my lot wants them done. If a discussion is a good one then I will answer it no matter how old it is or if it has the BR already chosen. I am on here to learn and earn.
