Signatures on Mylot

I'm sure a lot of you already know what I mean when I say signatures for a forum like mylot. For those who don't know, they are the spaces below each of your posts that you can write pretty much anything in. Most people put pictures, links, or quotes in signatures on forums. Would you like it if mylot had a signature space for users? Why? Personally, I wouldn't. There are a few reasons why I think this. Firstly, it would be hard to moderate what people put in their signature such as rude images or malicious links that someone might press accidentally. It would also make discussions more cluttered and more difficult to read discussions. I like mylot the way it is with not having signatures and loads faster without peoples signatures having to load like on other forums.

Hi gloamglozer, I at one time thought it would be kind of cool if Mylot allowed us signatures but I soon changed my mind on the subject. Mylot is abused constantly by people posting this referral link and that referral link and signatures would be an even bigger way to abuse Mylot. Most members here stick to the rules but there are also a lot who don't. Sigs would be good for some of us but not for us all.

Yeah, I was thinking just that when posting. There would be loads of people putting referral with possible exaggerations on them to get people to sign up.

Yes Exactly. I think the Mylot profiles are more than enough for everyone to post what ever links and stuff they need.

I'm not big fan of signatures even on normal forums, especially graphic ones. I think avatars are good enough for user recognition. Even now some people are complaining about slow loading speed. Some forums have options to hide signatures but I can't imagine having graphic sigs on mylot since we can't even add a picture to our post (only as an attachment).

I like mylot the way it is right now. I am not a member on any other site yet but if the signatures slow down the loading then I would not like them.

It would slow it down because when people put images in their signature, it makes you load those images as well when you open the page.

I do agree with you, there is no need for signatures at the end of every post. It would make things much more difficult and make discussions harder to navigate, with all those unrelated lines. The signatures could also cause some harm, like you've said. Personally, I think that the slogan on our profile page is good enough; if people want to look at it they can. But the way a signature works would make people read the signature, whether they wanted to or not. Those words or links or images that follow ever post would cause a lot problems, and myLot just wouldn't be the same. I've always liked myLot because it was unique; it didn't let you have things like signatures, so it is very special. If they added this, it would become more like another forum. The signatures would not be needed, they aren't part of the discussion, and they would just take up space. To have a whole space taken up by irrelevant information would just destroy the quality of discussions.

I totally agree with you! I honestly don't like signatures, because I get a little dizzy seeing them. Haha! I mean, it makes a forum unorganized and it confuses me sometimes. That's why we have our own mylot profile where we can put some of our links. A job well done by team mylot. happy lotting!

They could regulate it just like they regulate discussions. However have them not count for points or stars or whatever. I see lots of people adding a standard line at the end of every discussion and that to me is their signature just not in a little box beyond what they say.
