Are you worried about the swine flu?

Do you know anyone that has or had the swine flu? Are you concerned that you may get it? My mom is a nurse at the hospital and they won't allow any visitors under 18 in the doors because of the swine flu. That just seems a little overboard to me, but what do I know? I have my vaccination, but I wasn't ever really worried about getting it anyway. I just figured the doctor had it in stock, so I might as well get it.

I don't worry about swine flu, because I stay at home all day and never go out.

I have taken the vaccination, to be safe if the swine flu comes around again. From the news reports I have been reading, if it comes it can spread very fast. So, I decided, it would be best to take the immunization vaccine ahead of time. There were no side effects, and I feel fine. I am glad that I had taken the vaccination.

I live in a very small town and two children who I know personally have had the swine flu. I'm sure that more kids have had it but those are the two I know about. I do know that it's been serious in many cases but I don't trust the vaccine enough to get it so I'll take my chances.

I got the vaccination and didn't have any kind of complications. In fact, I was suprised that I didn't even have the sore arm that comes with many shots. I would think that in a small town you wouldn't be exposed quite as much and I think it depends on who you come in contact with on a regular basis. I'm sure that even without the shot you will be fine. Thanks for responding!

As I said to another user on here, no I'm not that overly concerned about the swine flu. Its way to basic, and all reported deaths were people who were already ill and whose iminue system couldn't stand up to having something that new introduced.
If there was something that they could tell us about then maybe I may be concerned. But, when all doctors and hospitals can offer is "wash your hands" Stay home from school/ work if you're sick , Cover your mouth if you caugh/sneeze. Then I'd have to say I don't think so.
All the above mentioned tips are suggested to maintain healthy living. The swine flu is just another excuse to drill knowledge into our heads our parents should have already.
I look at it this way. I already have a laundry list of bigger health concerns that could kill me. So why should I worry about another strain of oh yes... the flu. Come on the symptoms are to vague to really determine a differance between it, and for an adverage person the common cold.
I need more information before I turn around and say anything, worry, or try to "prevent" it.

I am very glad that I got the h1n1 shot. If I didn't get the h1n1 shot i most likely would've gotten the h1n1 virus. Everybody has gotten vaccinated for h1n1 except for 1 of my family members out of 5. Guess what? That 1 that didn't get vaccinated got the h1n1 virus. It's a good thing it wasn't anything serious just a fever, ache. It's not that he didn't think he would get flu he just couldn't because they ran out at the local school. My advice... get vaccinated for the h1n1 virus.

I'm sorry that your family member got the flu. I'm glad that it wasn't serious. It has been hard for a lot of people to find the vaccine. I was fortunate enough to be called when my doctor had it in because I have a small child. I think that people who are in school or have kids that are in school may be a bit more likely to come in contact with it. Thanks for the response!

It's hard to know what's for real now a days and what is a product of marketing, media, or scandal. I like to hope for the best in people and that we are not governed by such greed. I would never be able to harm another person just to make a few extra bucks.
