I need some realistic consumer opinion on this one. AMD athlon and Intel Pentium, both CPU chips manufacturers which we most read or heard from ads paper while we are searching for our desired laptop or desktop computers. So, why most people rather encouraged me to purchase a PC that has Intel Pentium rather than an AMD athlon brand name? Was AMD athlon has more problem during a PC lifetime than Intel Pentium? What is your opinion?

If you ask me the best thing to stick with is the prossor that you are the most fimular with. Just because its "new" or the "most talked about thing online." Doesn't mean that it is. Most people will rave about something that it's new... only because they want others to buy it. Do your research find out all you can before investing.
The only real reason I even have Vista is because my computer came with it. But as soon as I heard it I tried to find out as much about it as I could.

Actually, I don't mind to have either one of them, no matter it is AMD Athlon or Intel Pentium, I still use it as a computer to accomplish what I want it to accomplish online or offline. I just don't understand why people strongly encourage this or that?

Search "What Computer should I buy" at About's website and they have a questionaire on there that helps you decide on the best computer for your needs and budget. I don't know too much about the Athalon but according to what I have read is just that the Athlon is the Pentium's competition and originally exceeded the Pentium in performance so im guessing their not too different in performance but I dont know personally.

Comparing amd and intel is like comparing windows and linux, which I did recently in this same forum.
AMD is cheaper than intel in my country. Dont know about you.
Performance wise I dont find any difference. Since AMD is not much used by people, they spread rumors about it, just like they do for Linux.
