Did You Know That You Can Usually Qualify for Discounted or Free Spay/Neuter?

Did you know that most states offer free or discounted spay/neuter coupons through rescue organizations? I found that out when I got my cat spayed. I couldn't afford the full price of the operation, but I found out that since I was on medicaid, I could get a discount. I was thrilled by this, and got the cat spayed. I also found out that there are several rescue organizations that will help you get your cat spayed/neutered as well. You just have to contact them and ask. People who are on foodstamps can get discounts, and sometimes free spay/neuter as well. If you have a cat but you can't pay the full amount for the spay/neuter, call around, get on the internet and look up rescue organizations in your area. You will probably be able to find one or two places that will help you. There are quite a few rescue organizations that will also let you get feral cats spayed/neutered for free. It is well worth checking into. Best Friends in Utah, as well as No More Homeless Pets, Ut are just two of the places that help with spay/neuter. They also offer help with dogs as well. It is worth your while to check around and find help getting your cat/dog fixed. It is better for the animal, and much better for you. Plus, it helps cut down on the number of unwanted pets.

No I did not know that. That is good to know though. We adopted our dog from the pound and she came with a certificate for a free spaying. We will likely adopt our next dog from that pound as well and I know they still offer that with puppies who have not yet been spayed or neutered. But it is good to know that if you adopt a puppy or buy one or find one for that matter that you can get the spayed or neutered for free.

I went to my local animal regulation and got coupons for neutering my boys, Willy and Khuay. You can also check with your local social services/welfare office too. I have had a lot of help with spaying and neutering my cats and dogs and when I pass part of my estate is being given to the local rescue agencies to help with spaying and neutering coupons. Also, if I ever win the lottery, I plan to donate a substantial sum to help out the rescue groups. Thank you for posting the information. I had a neighbor, years ago, that was going to allow her dog to get pregnant just for the sake of having puppies. I asked her what she was going to do with the puppies after they were weaned and she said give them away...but where we live it would be difficult to find good homes for them. I went to our animal regulation and got her a coupon for $75 off spaying the dog, and fortunately she used the coupon. I hate the fact that people will get a dog or cat and not take care of the "breeding" process.

Yes, I learned a long time ago that rescue organizations like the humane society offer low cost spay/neuter programs and so do some of the vets in my area. I always take my pets to the humane society because they're a worthwhile organization and I like to help them whenever I can. I recently had my dog spayed and dropped off some blankets and dry dog food when I picked her up.
