Is life simply hard or we make it hard to ourselves?

I think it's a combination of the two. Life is inherently hard and to a certain extent cruel -- we all die, we all get sick, some of us are even born with severe medical conditions, we risk dangers at every step of the way and there's only a limited amount we can do about it. On the other hand, our choices also sometimes make our lives harder than they need to be. We take on so much unnecessary debt that much of our incomes go towards paying interest, we develop relationships with people who will callously hurt us, we don't take precautions to protect our health, etc.

Hello! In fact of life for each individual,are not plain sailing.Like the weather,the sun,there are storms . Therefore,we must deal with a calm state of mind.Foreign objects can not be changed,but we can change our windset;in a good state of mind ,the best effort to do their own thing,sussess is far away.

I think that we probably make it hard for ourselves. We constantly worry about things when we shouldn't and this creates more worry and anxiety in our lives. I used to come from a state of saying 'Life isn't fair!' However my outlook on life has changed now and I attribute this to reading lots and lots of positive thinking books, I've reprogrammed my mind as it were! Whenever I get problems now yes, I do start to worry but then I quickly go into my mind and say to myself 'don't worry! get to work on resolving this problem!' There will be difficult moments in life and I certainly have had my share but I think that I am taking the right approach now by not taking life too seriously but getting on with what I have to do. There's a card that I carry around with me in my pocket diary and it's called 'Don't Quit!' It's just a short poem about continuing to persevere despite the hardships that we may experience. When I go through these times I dig it out and have a quick read and it helps to put my thinking back in the right place! I find that it gives me strength when I need it most. We should all utilise techniques that work for us and then I think we will be much happier and more content with our lives. Andrew

Hello Clorissa. I think life is what you make of it! I think if you are always putting people down then your life will go downhill. I think if you are always bragging about people then your life will be good. If you are good to others then your life will be good. If you are hurtful to people then your life will be painful. The harder you work to do good the better your life will be. If you work hard and don't go around stepping on everyone you meet then your life will be bountiful. We are born into the life we deserve I believe this. We can make it a good life or we can make it a bad life. I think it is our choice by what and how we do unto others.

Comparing to you,life is even more harder here in China.Differernt from you,life here is not simply hard or we make it hard ourselves.Life is harder here because of the authoritarian Chinese Community Party,There's no huming rights,no freedrom,no democracy here which you already have.Life here is so hard for us common people,We are earning very little,live in very small apartment,and have no money to see a doctor when we are ill.

I think life is easy its an adventure, we all make life so hard. Basically your born you live then you die with a few bumps along the way. What makes it hard is people want things that they cannot afford or bad decisions they make during their lifetime. Life is an adventure and should be treated as such.

Well, to me life is certainly harder than what our parents went thru. Both hubby and me are working, we have an only child and we are very middle-class in our lifestyle. None of us want or aspire for more wealth and possessions and between the three of us, we are happy with whatever little we have. We consciously keep our life stress-free, don’t mingle with too many people or party outside, we take vacations just once a year and have a little savings. However, the global recession has hit us very very hard…none of us have had any increments for two years, my hubby’s constantly changing jobs and I’m always scared of losing my own job any moment. Apart from this, our earnings have remained the same while our expenditure has increased manifold and its becoming so difficult to maintain the balance any further. Even the simple pleasures of life like a cinema or dinner outside seems so much more expensive. So yes, to me inspite of my best efforts, life has become a lot harder with no respite in sight.

someone once told me that some people were put here to suffer. others were put here to be happy. i honestly believe that. in fact, i actually think that the universe make some people even more miserable, so that it's favorites can be that much more happier. there are even ancient philosophers who mentioned this. the key is, if you are one of the universes step children. lol. is the try to find a way to beat it's system. don't just accept your position. i may not be one of god's favorites, but i am sure not going to sit back and be forked. lol. i am going to get over inspite of the universe. cause there is no reason why i should.

I think life is really hard because if we read the bible God, said to adam that he should be live with difficulties because of the sin they made. Hardship in life cannot be avoided, friend. This is the reason why we tried our best to succeed and have good life but what happen. There's a lot of hindrances and trials but if we persevere enough we can make our in a better way...Those people who have nothing to with their I think they make their life harder...

Hi clorissa, I dont know if you play rummy. If you do, and if you receive lousy set of cards, you still play the game, dont you? And try to minimize the losses. Well, I treat life like that. Agreed that the cards dealt were bad. But still, attempt can be made to be in a position far above the bottom three. :)

Hi, Life is littlebit hard but we make it more hard and complicated. Sometimes simple and easy things become complicated because of improper situation handling.

I think it is a bit of both.Luck factor plays a major role in success or failure in life.One has to be at the right place at the right time to be successful.It is not always easy to recognise these moments and follow the leads.This makes it hard for us and we take it upon ourselves and blame everything on our inability to succeed in a difficult situation.Again some people are plain unlucky and end up having a miserable life a nothing seems to succeed for them however hard they try.

hi clorissa, my opinion is that life is hard, but not we made it hard. i am not married, so i do not think life is too hard, when i think about my future life, it is so hard, i have to raise a baby, before he come to this world, i have to take care of myself to insure he is in good condition, when he come to this world, i have to afford him wear, food, a good education. so much i have to prepare.

life itself has problem ... but some people tend to find problems and hardship for themselves and some with a lot of hardship do not panic .. live relaxed and let other live comfortably... definitely life is enjoyable only with its hardship...

Really we make it hard on ourselves, by the choices we make, the precautions we don't take, and the unplanning of the future! "Life is gonna throw curve balls at you, that is for sure, but you have to be ready to dodge them, and how to make them an advantage for you, you are the main character in this episode!"
