How long do you keep your Thanksgiving dinner leftovers before throwing them out

I threw out the last of my Thanksgiving dinner today, Sunday. I threw some out yesterday. My ex mother in law keeps her for at least a week. I don't think that the food is good for that long. How long do you keep your leftovers before throwing them out?

Wow!! You throw yours out pretty quick. We usually wait at least 5-7 days here unless there is just a little bit of something left for sure. I do finally get tired of Turkey on Tuesday, and we froze some of what is left over for another time as well. But this yr. we actually had little left over as it was just my husband and I besides Turkey as he kept the portions of what foods he was making small as well.

Thanks, KrauseHome. I think I do throw my leftovers away rather quickly. I didn't realize until recently how wasteful I have been. I am still not sure how long to keep some leftovers and probably throw them away too early. Happy MyLotting

Hey sweet! It's great to see ya again! Where have you been? I
have always kept my leftover for a week if I had them that long
and never had a problem! But, unfortunately this year they are
already gone! I gave my girlfriend, who came over for dinner
some and she hasn't even eaten any yet! It was a terrible waste
because me and my boyfriend finished ours already and would have
loved to have more! I have never had to throw anything out,
except maybe the stuffing and candied yams! But, the turkey
always was fine for at least a week!

Thanks Opal. I throw my leftovers out too early. My Aunt always keeps her for about a week and doesn't have any problems either. I did keep most of them for at least three days before throwing anything out. That was good for me.

Thank you for your response, peavey. That is a very good idea. I am going to start doing that too.

We don't throw out our Thanksgiving leftovers. Anything that we don't want goes to my sisters...and my mom always makes homemade Turkey Pot Pie with the left over bird. It's sooooo yummy! :D Plus, no food lasts long in our house, so any other leftovers we keep will get eaten.

Thank you for your response. Sounds like you don't waste anything at your house. I throw away way too much at my house. I am looking for ways to stop doing that.

I didn't cook this year we went to my da's house, but usually about a week. But my da didn't like the way his turkey came out so he gave it to the neighbor the next day, and he made this stuffing thing and it was too salty so he fed it to the neighbor's dogs! lol. So yeah, we don't waste we give it away or feed it to animals. But usually around a week, though realistically in my family the food wouldn't even last that long. We'd eat it every day until it was gone!

Thank you BambooPanda13 for your response. I threw out out leftovers on the third day. My daughter told me that she believed that I could keep some of them a day or two longer but I didn't.

Thank you jewels49. We didn't have any turkey left over. It was gone by the next day. The pie was gone too. We even had a cake and it wasn't thrown out either.

I keep them for a week or so. Things like the home made jelly can last up to 6 weeks if kept in fridge while things like deviled eggs I only keep for a few days..if any of it makes it that long anyway. I also make up tv style dinners and freeze them so that I do not have to throw them out and we do not get so tired of the left overs.

Thanks OpionatedLady. I never keep leftovers for a week. I throw them out on the third day. Thanks for the idea of tv style dinners. I am going to try that. Have a great week.
