I just polished my nails yesterday using the new polish I purchased. anyway it didn't turn out too good in fact polishing my own nails always seems to turn out bad, lady's I'm sure some of you know what mean, the polish ends up smearing and goes out of the nail bed, ahhh I hate that, lol and some nail polish brands take forever to dry.
Well lady's tell me do you sometimes have trouble polishing your own nails and if not whats your secret?

I always have trouble polishing my nails...which would mainly be the reason why I don't do it anymore! I would always be able to do my left hand perfectly, since I am right handed...and the right hand always looked like crap! I usually always leave my natural nails without any polish on them, unless I decide to get acrylics put on.

Yes I agree that it can be hard to do our own nails... but to save money i like to do so most of the time, and only pamper myself with a shop done mani or pedi if there's a huge occasion like my best friends' wedding, when I'm the bridesmaid or something.
if I'm not going to be in the public eye much then I make do with a simple manipedi done by myself, and just be a little more careful, and use good nail polish so it is less messy.
i guess the trick is not to rush and do it slowly! a little gd polish goes a long way too - saves a lot of grief caused by using not so good polish that come with not so good brush applicators.

Well, yes, it can be difficult polishing your nails at home, specially when you have to polish the nails of the right hand with your left hand (if you are a right-hander I.e.), but when I used to grow my nails and polish them, I would always do it at home. Those were the days when I had few responsibilities and plenty of time so I could just sit back idly and polish them to perfection LOL
However, after the birth of my son, I started keeping trimmed nails and now I don’t polish them anymore.

I can do my right nails perfectly for some reasons that I'm left handed :) hahaxD as for my left nails.. eeeeerrr!! It's perfectly a MESS :))) Sometimes I ask for someone to paint my left nails, or when I have time to visit the salon, the manicurist will do the job for me :)

Yes i agree with you, it is really difficult to do nail polish on your own. I used to put nail polish before but I got tired because they doesn't end up good and it is just a mess with my finger. So i don't have a choice but to go to manicurist to let her do my fingers.

Hi apples99,
Yea, sometimes I do but usually not. It is easy to dry or not highly depends on the weather, the type of nail polish that you are using and the way you put your nail polish on. May I introduce to you a quick way to dry you nail polish and make them so shinny. I usually put the protection base first, let it dry for 3 mins and then the first layer of the colour one, let it dry for 3 mins, and then the second layer, another 3 mins, then the top coat. Please prepare some ice and ice water before you start polish you nails. After you have finished polishing, let it dry for 10 mins and then put your hands into the very cold ice water. You may put your hands in for 30 seconds and then take out and then put back. The water is so cold. It is hard to let your hands there for a long time. Until you no longer feel the water icy. Then it is okay.
Hope it works for you well.
Have a nice day!

Oh yes, I have a ton of trouble when I polish my own nails. It never ever turns out even half as good as when I go to the salon (which is VERY rare). Wish I could figure out the trick, but I've tried just about everything. I always end up taking a Q-tip dipped in nail polish remover and rubbing it around the outside of my nail bed to sop up the mess that's left when I'm done painting my nails. However, it doesn't quite help with the clumping around the edges. Someone once told me to put a few drops of nail polish remover into my polish bottles before I use them. Evidently it's supposed to help keep the polish from clumping up. I haven't tried it yet, but maybe I'll give it a go.

Hi, apples99. Yes I have my errors! I just try to polish when I am in a very quiet room. I will make sure that I am not in any rush! If I am taking my time, I can polish them at a slow pace without smearing. My secret is, not rushing, relax and focus on your nail and don't dip out too much of nail polish from the nail brush.

I also hate polishing my own nails. I get careless applying the polish in my nails, sometimes in goes over my nails and my skin will be colored. I hate it when it happens. I don't have any secrets apples99 to tell you. All I do is to go to the salon and hav an expert color my nails.

well, i'm doing my own polishing with my nails.. i just buy little bottles of polish because they just tends to dry. every week i polish my nails, just one coating at a time to let it dry first before i put the next coat and then the clear polish, the third coat. it doesn't look like the one done by the experienced manicurist but it's better than no polish at all...and less expensive. we just have to have a little patience when doing our nails...hahaha

There are a few brands that promise that the polish will dry in 5 minutes. I haven't tried them, but I don't really think that a nail polish can dry that quick, mine always take at least 1 hour. Before that time I always get some kind of accident, like touching and completely ruining my nails. Some people use a hair dryer to make them dry quicker. I haven't tried yet, but you can try and let us know if it worked!

I always mess up... and than for some reason when u paint your nails at home it takes a lot longer to dry so you end up getting your nails all smudged! And the color never ever last... my nails get chipped the day i paint them no matter what!Thats why i just put a clear polish on them

Its quite a task for me. I can not really do it at home. I tried a few times but in vain. I messed up and a feeling of dissatisfaction made me promise that I should never do it myself again.

I wish i had a secret to better painting your nails. I seem to get it all over the skin and of course on the nail too, but it doesn't look as good as when i can go get them done. I like getting them done and it is so much easier and your not making a mess on your skin and if they do they know hoe to get it off better then we do.
If i have to have them painted then i will ask my mom to help me because she seems to be able to paint them much better than i can. She actually does her own and she never has any problems with diong them and never has any extra paint on her skin. She has no secret at all, just that she is able to do them.
