When it comes to birthdays or Christmas do you ever drop gift hints to your friends, partners or even to your children of a few things that you would like.I have tried dropping hints to my husband and he never pays attention,so i get the children to work on dropping him hints now.

I think that it is one of the safest things to do to give hints of what you would like to have for Christmas or your birthday so that you don't end up with a bunch of junk that you don't like at all. We've always done that in our family and this year my in-laws decided that they were going to try something along those same lines. The thing about the way that my in-laws are doing it that is driving me insane is that they don't think of the suggestions as the law and if you drew a person's name in the gift exchange, you have to get them exactly what they have written down.

I did try soo hard to give him hints of what i wanted for Christmas as well as what the children could get me,but in the end i had to tell them anyway.I got a web site up with all netbooks on it and then i marked a few and said one of them would be nice, lol. The best bit was we agreed not to spend as much as we normally do on each other for christmas but that is not going to happen as we have spent the same as we did the year before.I told the children what i wanted as well it makes life alot easier that way.

No. I just tell them outright what I would appreciate having. I feel that most people don't pick up on hints very well! LOL!

In my family we use lists . Everyone save my mom would make a list and we would work off the list. So you woud get what you wanted but from whom? That's why the mystery laid. My mom would always say " surprise me." and we did.

I have dropped hints in the past, but that was when I was younger. Now My husband and I will make lists of what we want, so there's no hinting just either getting or not getting! lol! It's easier that way as you can get something you know he or she will love, and also you won't have to worry about dropping hints about things you want either.

I didn't get but one extra for my husband this year, but I thought about this a few days ago. I think for his birthday and for Christmas next year I will get him something extra then what he asked for. Of course that means I need to work harder on mylotting, lol.

Hi. My family, friends and work colleagues knew that I would like to receive different types of books. They used to ask me which books interest me. To which I would always reply "anything." A friend gave me an idea though. He told me to create a "book wishlist" in my facebook account. So, there it is. I have an album in my facebook account containing pictures/book covers of my book wishlist. Also, I have created one album containing pictures of the books I already have. I update these albums on a monthly basis or when I have bought/received new books.

That sounds like such a great idea as that way they have a choice of books rather than just one or two and if they have a problem of getting hold of a book there is another one they can try to get instead.I told my husband what i wanted in the end and i know that i have got a netbook like i wanted as he asked me if i liked the one he had chosen on the pc before he went to collect it.

I don't drop hints, I just tell people what I want. I already know that my husband is getting me the 5th season of Frasier, a book that I want, and a subscription to Newsweek, because that is what i really really want, and he wants to make sure that I get something I want for christmas.

This year i had to tell the husband as well as the children what i wanted as that way it was a lot easier all round. My husband was not sure what netbook i wanted so we had a look on a website and i gave him a few choices as which net books i liked so that way he could choose one for me.

I do not drop hints as I know inside our family I will not be receiving any gifts. If I will be receiving something it will be comes from my friends. They know what i want since I always tell it whenever we meet and I am thankful that they are always right whenever they give me gifts. However, my parents specifically my father always drop a hint of what he really wants for christmas. It is a set of caserole. I will be dropping by to a near mall later to check on the prices.

I asked my mum and her partner what they wanted and because they never told me i chose to get them something for the garden as i know not many people would think of garden things to get a person this time of the year.I have told my husband what i wanted for Christmas as he knew what i wanted, but did not know what kind of a netbook i wanted so i gave him a choice to choose from.

When it is my wife's and my son's birthday, I usually give some hints that I will get them a nice gift. Once I promise, I always make it. Otherwise they will feel disappointed if I break my hints or promise.

Oh that is so sweet. This year i had to tell the husband in the end what i wanted as the hints were not good enough as he knew i wanted a netbook, but never knew which one i wanted, there he was on the argos website so i gave him a choice of the ones i wanted,so i am happy.I had a rough idea of what he wanted for christmas so i got a few things other than a game he wanted.

I never done as it makes the gifts no longer a surprises. i love mystery and surprises go in hand. I do not like to give a clue as in giving the receiver would no longer get excites as love to make surprises then have to research first the things she /adore as even good to make her/him feel surprises.

I like to get the things that people have asked for or what they have dropped hints about as well as a gift that they did not know anything about as that way they still get a gift that they knew nothing about.I like to drop a hint so that i get what i want or something that i need as that way i am not disappointed either.

That is funny. I don't usually drop hints because family usually ask what do I want or need. Sometimes its very simple like a new pair of slippers or pjs. Other times I just say why don't you just surprise me.

yeah i always , you know i hate the time when i am given a gift of not my choice , though people say that always respect the gift given by others but if the person is really going to spend on gift then better have something of our own choice so i always give hints to my friends and directly ask my family for the gift lol yeah i directly ask my family but give hints to my friends about my gift requirement so that their money don't get waste and me also happy.

I try to drop hints and that do not work then i will tell them as i think that if i was to get something that was no good to me then it would be a waste of the persons time as well as their money.I try to get what other people have asked for or what have dropped hints for as well as i get another small gift so that they get a gift that they do not know about as well then.

My husband this year had to be told as he had not got a clue of what i wanted from him with all the hints that i gave him as well.I got a web site up in the end with netbooks on,well that was the easy part then he asked which netbook so i gave him a selection of them and said you choose one out of them for me.

I do not drop hints because my husband never drops hints on what he wants. I tried dropping hints when we first started dating and he never picked up on them. When his mom was alive she would always say to him gee wouldn't this look pretty on Dar. She had to help him shop. Now that she is gone, he has to shop on his own.

Yes I do, I am not afraid, If there Is something I would really want then I would make hints. I Dont think about expencive stuff like jewelry. Good book or a board game. But I am wierd man I believe, because its hard to say what I want. Why not to give hints when you know exactly what you want. I think it is easier to everyone
else because they know what to buy for you.

I do! In my family we all do. My mother and I go to the store and pick out what we want together... we'll put like 10 things we want for x-mas in the cart and then trad carts and than out of those 10 things we each pick 5. So we'll be sure we like what we get and at the same time its a surprise in a way.
I always ask people what they want and i love the lil hints people give after all i'm buying them something i want them to like it.

I am like you i would rather get something that i know they will like rather than gety something that i know they will just put in the back of a cupboard.I always know what the children like as they always tell me and the husband always says what he would like as well.
