Do it pay to be honest all the time?

I think that it pays to be honest, but not all the time because sometimes we might be complained about for some trifles that do not please the others. But anyway, it is good for us to be honest. I am an honest person, but sometimes when it depends on the situation...

Every body knows this quote "Honesty is the best policy", i do agree with this quote, but not agree from your point that it always pays you, some times you may suffer lost. Key benefit of the honest man is that everybody will trust you blindly, It will shape up your reputation. If you are honest worker in a company, Your boss will trust you and listen you, which can increase more chances of promotion.

I guess being honest will give you peace of mind and will not give you a peace mind. It depends on the situation. When you are telling the truth it depends on the situation. Like for example you are a witness of a crime. You will honestly tell the court what you really know, and then a threat will come that they will hurt your family or will hurt you or kill you if you tell the truth, what would you do? It is a different story when you are public official, here our public official especially those who are on the higher rank have the presentation that they are corrupt and dishonest, but if one of them or some of them are honest being a public official, they will never be bothered by the news they are receiving. As they are honest they have peace of mind. I think honesty have different levels. Honesty of taxi drivers to return the money their passenger left in their taxi is admirable and that for me is the honesty that pays you blessings.

I think it is always a good idea to be honest. I think that when you lie it must be a terrible strain and you would have to remember all the stories you have told and who can do that and do a good job? I think being honest gives you the repuation of being a reputable person and people are much more apt to respect what you say and what you tell them.

I'm a very honest person and I have found that in my life it has not paid because people seem to think of you as a naive fool when you are straighforward and honest. As a result I have been played by so many people in my life. Honesty does pay in the sense that I have my integrity intact. I'm proud of the fact that I'm a good and decent person. That's how it pays for me. As much as being honest has hurt me I will continue to be honest because that is just my nature. I can't help but be honest and straighforward with people and myself. I can't say that I am honest...but it is true that honesty always pays...there are times I have been dishonest and I realized that it more of bad than good for me... but now that I have learned a lesson...I try to avoid such situation where I tend to be dishonest...being honest definitely helps you build trust...

IMO I am a very honest person and I also never lie as it is too much trouble to try and remember what the lie was whereas I never forget the truth.

i would 99% of the time it does, but i come to see that when you are honest with people that they often get upset with you at time

I think that one should be honest ALL the time. The Bible says that if you can be trusted in small things(by being honest), then you can also be trusted in big things. You are right in saying that you will be keeping a good reputation if you are honest. Sometimes being honest will not be rewarding to a person at the moment he has shown his honesty but sometime in the future he will be rewarded for his honesty. People will be more trusting in him because of his honesty and he will have his reward in another way, such as being given a higher or more sensitive position in his company, a higher salary or being trusted to hold a more trustworthy job such as one who will be entrusted with finance.

i like to be honest about most things as well. to say i speak nothing but the truth would be a lie. i think eeryone tells partial truths some times. but being honest about even your biggest mistakes holds you accountable for them. when people know the worst youe done you try to do better. i have never been afraid to confess. it makes me think harder before doing something in the first place. i know i have a big mouth and will tell all no matter how hard i may try to keep to myself, so i make sure that i dont do something unless im ready to have the world know. great question!!! thanks for asking!

Yes, it pays to be honest. If a person is very deceptive it makes someone not trust them as usual. Being deceptive can be the wrong way to go. I would rather tell the truth no matter how it may sound. I don't want to hurt anyone, but I have to be honest. Deception is a bad thing when starting friendships.

I think it is good to be honest. Also, there are downsides. Sometimes it is better to refrain from speaking. Being honest is good because it challenges you and others to get on with it, and do what needs to be done. Sometimes, you have to respect people. But you also have to respect yourself. You are an honest person? I would say I'm pretty honest, most of the time. What I really want to do is talk to people more, be happy, and nice to people. This doesn't mean being who they want you to be. But standing up for what you think is right, and what is right I guess. Lots of people have different ideas about things, and sometimes something will get ignored. This is awful. But connecting with someone can really help things out. Such as, you don't want to wait for someone to save you, you want to save yourself. So you must take initiative. Make noise. Bang around. LoL. Some people do this, but some don't. It will help to be honest because then you will feel better.

Hy jugsjugs, I`m a honest person to, but unfortunately some people are offended by that, so I try to tell the truth in a more gentle way if it is a person I care about and I feel that I will hurt her, or if it is in my best interest, if not they just have to deal with it.
