Do you take your necklace off when washing your hair or going to bed?

I actually don't wear a necklace on a regular basis, so this isn't really something that I have to worry about. I only wear jewelry beyond my wedding bands and my cartiledge ring when we are going out for some kind of special occasion. I've been very lucky though in that even during those special occasions, I have never broken or lost one of my necklaces. My brother has actually lost a couple of chains when he's been out for a special night of some sort.

I now do not wear a necklace not unless i am going out as they always seem to break as well as get caught up in my hair when i am in bed or even break when i catch they while washing or brushing my hair.I have broken them alot of times so from now on i am only going to wear them when i am going out.

dear jj,
i do take off necklace and other jewelries before going to bed because nobody is going to admire it when i am asleep. it is better to wear it at the right place, like in parties and as accessory to your dress (not pajama).
happy new year.

I have really short hair, and one little necklace that I leave on all the time. I haven't taken the necklace off since I got it for my birthday earlier this year.

I have a necklace which my mom gave to me when I was in high school. I still wear it now. I look funny wearing it, because it still looks like a kid necklace. It is made of thin gold. I shouldn't be wearing it now, but since my mum gave it to me, I still.
I never take it off. I figure I wash them anyway everytime I take a shower. The only times I had to take it off were the few times I had to take x-ray examinations.

Hi there dear friend.
Well while i can't answer for me as i don't wear any necklaces right now, i can answer for my girlfriend.
She takes it off when washing and when going to bed as she wants to protect them better in this way.
P.S.: I'm sorry about your necklace and I hope you get the money to repair it.
Take care !

I've never been one for wearing necklaces, but, the few times that I did I always took them off when washing my hair. My hair is very long and if I left the necklace on it would have gotten tangled up. What a mess that would have been!

I used to sleep with my necklace on and broke many of them. I very seldom wear a necklace now. My cousin used to never take her necklace off and now she doesn't even wear one. My uncle would tell us to take our necklace off because we might get choked with it on when sleeping.

Sorry your necklace is broken. I do not wear a necklace everyday just when their is a special occasion. I would though take the necklace off if I was washing my hair and would not wear one to bed. If you wear a necklace to bed it is very easy to catch it on your hair and then breaking it.

oh, so bad new, no i won't remove my necklace when i go to take or going to bed, because it was my wedding chain so, in our indian tradition, we should not remove the chain never, till our end.. i think every indian will do the same, thankyou, have a nice day.

Very sorry to hear that your necklace is broken. Especially in these days when the gold is priced so high, getting it repaired also will cost a lot. That is why I never wear necklace while taking bath, as it may catch some oil if it is stone studded and I will remove while going to bed as it may bend.

I have a cross necklace that I never take off. Yes my necklace does get tangled during the night but it hasn't broke yet.

Maybe you can get it repaired at a later date when you have money to fork for the repair? I typically remove jewelries when I wash my hair or do any chores. I've lost some jewelries in the past - they break and go down the sink so fast! *sigh* So I've learned from that - and I just remove them and put them on before I leave the house.

I always take off my necklaces when I shower or go to bed. I take off my engagement and wedding rings when I shower or wash dishes. I sleep with my rings on. I have never had to get them repaired. I am sorry that you had broken your necklace and that it is going to cost a lot to get repaired.

My boyfriend gave me a chain which is one of his most prized posessions, I am so scared to have it as I am constantly scared I will break it! He insists I wear it at all times, even in shower and in bed as this way I do not take it off so it cannot get lost or tangled. If it did ever break I think I would have to get it repaired secretly but never tell him lol!!
