I just bought a new PC from microcenter, and the sales staff encouraged me to purchase an insurance, which is $39 for the whole year. I think that I don't need it since that refurbished computer is so cheap, merely less than $400. Right now, most PC and laptops are so cheap, an extra insurance would be redundant I think. A friend of mine always bought extended warranty for the computer or electronic stuff such as LCD TV, etc..... So, would you buy an extended warranty for a newly bought PC in your opinion?

Yes I would. Especially if it was a referbished computer verses a brand new one. Re-bulit computers and eletronics tend to not handle strain nearly as well as the brand new ones. And, repairing it can get quite costly. So it is your best interest to invest something into something even if 400 seems cheep for the unit itself. A lot can happen, and you would be held responsible especially if it is not of your own doing.

Well, it is not an automobile, cost over some thousand dollars. A extended warranty for a merely PC won't worth the cost keep paying the warranty. Because the price on PC keep on going down. I simply can't see the reason to purchase a insurance for a pc.

I really never encouraged to purchased an insurance for my PC or any of electronics gadget or neither purchased for extended warranty. This is only another way of deceiving/cheating customers who is very innocent about electronics gadget. Most electronic gadgets like sony laptop for example by default the manufacturer proclaimed that their product has 3 years local warranty and 1 year for international. Not only that even the small parts like Samsung, Seagate, Western Digital Hard Disk it is also stated in the manual that is has also 3 years retailer warranty and 1 year for customer. Well I think if the sales agent is giving me 10 years extended warranty for $39 why not grabbed it.

hi clorissa, I will, if the price for insurance is very reasonable. I think it is best to have an extended warranty for pc and I would like to have one if there is any. I got my new laptop with 1 year warranty and I don't know how much will they charge me after the warranty period. Anyway, my other notebook is acting up lately and I spent some money for its repair...quite expensive though. I would love to have extended warranty for sure because, I have experienced spending lots of money for a single notebook. So yeah, I will buy insurance for my pc but it should so reasonable, i mean the price should be affordable and that can save money. Happy Lotting!
