Have you tried writing a book, then suddenly stopped?

I am a frustrated writer and I wish to publish my own book someday. But whenever I start, I can't go through it anymore. I often get bored and try to think about what will happen in the end. So, the outcome will always look like a rushed work of course!

i've been working on a book for years... but whenever I decided to write I got bored and rushed things too... so I decided to write down the plot first and only then write the proper book... this way i can make all the changes i want without having to start all over and give up. The downside to this is that I've been working on the plot for many years now and i keep changing it... so i barely even have a usable plot, just the major points... lol Cheers

Owww... That's quite embarrassing. I have also been like that. I keep on changing my plot until i didn't really know what would I write about.. Whooh!

Hi invisiblelady, As I've mentioned before, I to am an aspiring author and I hope to have a book published one day as well. The book that I've been working on for quite a while now is one where I have to sit the work aside for a while so that what I am writing doesn't turn into a rush work. I've actually started on a couple more novels while I am taking a break from the first one simply so I won't dwell on what the ending is going to be.

I think you're doing the right thing. I am not a good writer but when it comes to writing, you shouldn't really be forcing yourself to end it if you're not yet ready. I have read some books who have exciting beginnings but in the end, they are really not that as good as you expect them to be. Anyway, I wish you luck for every book that you are writing. I hope that you will get them published. Please let me know if it does... Thanks, GOD bless you!

In the past I tried to write a science fiction book. I wrote a few pages and then I stopped. I think sometimes it needs a passion for me to do something. I love China

Yeah, I guess you're right... But then, I think you should finish that. If you have started, maybe you have the passion. You just have to strive a bit..

I have started 4 books and haven't finished any of them. I know how it is to be frustrated. To be honest I had to walk away from them and it has been over 6 months since I bothered to touch any of them. Currently I am focusting still on my writing but in other ways. For example, I am a ghost writer. I produce a lot of articles, descriptions etc for a lot of different websites. It at least helps to keep me productive. I also practice a bit of my writing here on Mylot making sure that I have words spelled correctly, sentences formed so that you can understand what I am talking about, etc. Then there are the different writing practices that I attmept to do, when I am not working on the internet. This helps to keep me from getitng a block. I have to admit, I still get the writing blues and don't write for a day or two but we all need to take a break some time.

Yes, you're right. I also write on different websites in the internet but sometimes I get too much stressed because I always think hard... And then, staying i front of the computer gives me a bad headache--I have an astigmatism which hurts a lot these past days. There were times when I wanted to write more but can't because of my headache and I got teary eyed and my eyes won't stay focused. So, I have to stop and take a relax. Sometimes it takes a couple of days before the ache subsides. But you're right, we really need a break. If not, it is more likely that we can't write anymore if we got sick.

Oh, I really feel for you! You are not alone, it happens to me too. Writing my own book has been my lifetime dream. I am not talking about it getting published, I just want it to be finished. I started to seriously write a novel in 2007, but I haven't touched it for months. Reading a lot does help. Yes I mean a lot! It gives fresh ideas and will regain your writing skill.

Yes you're right! Well, I hope you get your novel finished. As for me, I needed to read more and more and more! Could you believe it, I've also tried reading every pages on the newspaper just to have more ideas in writing :)
