I just resigned from my company and I am looking for a business to invest in.I am looking for a franchise business. My money is not big enough to get Jollibee franchise. It is just a 6 digit amount only. If you were in my place, what kind of business you are willing to dwell in? As a customer, what are your needs that can lead me to find a solution? Thanks.

Hello Larish. Starting a business thru franchising is good, but it can be very expensive. The advantage of getting a franchise is use their name and their system of business. There are a lot of franchises available in the market, take a little time to check out as many as possible by attending expos. You may consider the following before you start: 1. capital - how much you are willing to risk; 2. your prospective location - it will determine your target market and it should not be to far from your place; and 3. what industry or nature of business you are really interested in. Don't go into the food business because it seems profitable. If you interested in something else, then consider that direction.
I have been an entrepreneur all my life. I have been a part of owner of an auto-shop, a beauty saloon, 2 canteens, 1 food cart business and a number of networking businesses. I love to eat so I realized that my heart cannot go away from the food business at the same time I also enjoy talking to people which lead me to the network industry.
Right now I am currently in the planning stage of putting up a small business with a couple of friends in the pasig-cainta area. We are considering a franchise for a food stall but i am more inclined to set up our own brand since i have a supplier for pork BBQ and isaw, we make our own spring roll, sisig, beef tapa, bacon and siomai. Its a little pricy since we don't use substitutes or extenders.
Ask yourself your question, as customer, what do you want? If you like more tips, (Don't worry, I will not sell you anything) just add me and send a PM or email me at chadster42@peoplestring.com
Thank you for taking time and Good Luck!

Hi chadster42, thank you for this initial advise. You have speak up my mind. I was also considering another option but still I am too scare (at the moment) to take the risk. I have work so hard for my money and would really like to use it to something that will give me if not that big at least fair return :) For now, I am still researching on what's available in the market. I am also happy that I am getting different point of view on this discussion. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and expertise. I have save your email address (just in case). God bless.

That would be very hard for you then. I think having that kind of amount is really tempting to put it into business and start that money working for you. Well for Filipinos love to eat i think the food business is the best business you can engage into. But first I would educate myself into how to properly make this money work for you and become financially free. Many businessmen just jumps into business with out any rethinking if it would really be profitable or not or sometimes when the business is on profit the money you earned is not properly spent so in the end you end up losing the money. take time to study whil you have the money with you study carefully and not just jump into anything you find or offered. Goodluck!

i would agree to a food business. because with food business, just making sure that its safe, good to look at and affordable surely you will have your capital back and probably have a bigger profit. garment business is also good specially this coming season.

I think food is the best, computer shop, mini-grocery and franchising is also good.
But always start to what you enjoy to do. like your hobby, or you familiar with.
Don't open a business that you don't like or just because somebody says that the earning is good..Business is only good if you know how to handle it.

If I have enough money, I will not venture into franchising. Besides the fact that it is expensive depending on the brand, the product is still not mine.
Instead, I will venture into something that I really enjoy and a brand of my own. As of now, I am into sharing parenting and marriage advises on my blog and I am selling digital products.
However, I am also thinking of something that we don't have in our place and one of them is soya milk. If that will materialize, then I will be the first one to do that.
In venturing into a franchise business it is a must that you dominate your area. Otherwise, you will find it hard to get your ROI.
If you are making your own brand, then it is enough that you are good in marketing.

You can actually go for the siomai food cart thing for as long as you find the right location. That's all you need to make sure you get your investment back is find the ones near schools or any places that a lot of people pass thru. People love to eat thus once they see a food cart they will bring out their changes and have a taste of it. There are packages for food cart businesses that runs for like 50k for everything so you might want to check on those.

hi larish,
Same here! I want to own a franchise but not the "big time" franchising like Jollibee. There are smaller ones like Zagoo, King Balls, Sisig Hurray, Waffle time...etc. Maybe i'll invest on that in the future. Well most probably, because I don't want to be working in the office whole my life. As a customer, I will definitely go for stalls like those I've mentioned, especially if I was on a very tight budget. I think it is best to know what kind of consumer you want to focus on. As for me, I want to sell something that everyone can buy or easy on the pocket.
Happy Lotting!

It's a dream of mine to own a franchise of Shomai House but the thing is i need P230,000 for the franchise fee alone . I dont even have half the amount . I saw other shomai franchises for just 38 thousand but i don't think it can compete with shomai house. Why dont you try MLM?

If i were you, well i'd start a food business like a food cart it costs less than 100,000 pesos and easy to maintain. You don't need many people in it either. You can even put it infront of your house and when you saved enough then its time to develop what you started with.
Either way this is only a suggestion, why not try asking those who are near you like your neighbors because they will be the one most likely to buy your products.
Also, you can try watching the saturday business suggestion show in ABS-CBN..
"Kabuhayang Swak na Swak" They offer a great deal of ideas.

I have two suggestions.
First, invest in my plan to build a chain of vending carts in San Francisco, offering a new food product that is unique to San Francisco. Or,
Second, if that doesn't interest you, take a look at this: http://htbyow.blogspot.com/

If it's a business, I think going to food business is more advisable. Jollibee is a big company and the money for franchise is quite heavy. With your 6 digits money for investment, perhaps starting your own desired business will do. Not as big as Jollibee, but maybe sooner or later it'll grow and also become one famous food business. :]
