She Ticked Me Off!

I have a friend I call a "fairweather" friend. She gets in touch when things are going downhill for her, then when things are looking up for her, after I've been a shoulder to cry on/lean on etc., she becomes difficult to get a hold of, until the next time she needs help. Her usual way of getting back in touch is, "Sorry I haven't been in touch for a while, but....." then follows a long winded (and usually unbelievable!) explanation. So she contacted me the other week, and I thought at first I would just ignore her. Then I thought it would be better to give her a taste of her own medicine. So I texted her this: "Sorry, woulda replied sooner, but was at the zoo, tripped, fell, and accidentally shoved my phone up an elephants *rse. A keeper got it out later, but by that time I was halfway up mount Kilimanjaro on a rescue mission to save an eskimo, who'd been eaten by a whale, and shot out of its spout with such force he ended up atop a mountain. Just got him down safely, when a wee green man with a huge head, and almond shaped eyes, who wanted to announce his arrival on earth, asked me the way to Downing Street. The PM was so chuffed to see us, I had to hang around for ages while he had my details taken to add me to the Xmas honours list to receive an MBE for services to the country. After a wee trip round the galaxy, I've just got home, wiped off the elephant sh*t, charged up the fone, ad realised I had a text from you! Anyway, enough about me, How r u?" She hasn't replied. Do you think I went too far? Who am I kidding, I couldn't care less! Lmao!

That was shocking, if your friend is lonely as she surely is otherwise she could not have contacted you then you just made her life more miserable. Cheers!

yes but it sounds like this friend is just taking advantage of the poster. there are people like that who only want to be friends when they need something, i don't know all the ins and outs of this one but if somebody is being a user to that degree then perhaps they need a bit of bluntness sometimes. i am always there if a friend is unhappy, but if somebody didn't really want to be friends except when they had a problem i'd be getting irritated too.

Is that what friends are for? to lend a shoulder to cry on? sounds like a line in a song . But to think that this girl keeps going back to him for advice means something. Most women often confide with friends who they think is trustworthy. I pity the girl, she may deserve what she got but to from someone who she consider a trusted friend and when it came when she's already down sounds devastating.

Hi, Drsunny. Thanks, I only wanted to give her a little taste of her own, some of the excuses she's given me over the years have been breathtaking! So she can get back to me with a new view, or she can go her own way. I left it up to her! Lol!

Good for you Lou.Fairweather sounds like blowing hot and cold and I hate being around people like that as I like consistency, at least if someones always miserable you know where you are but the ones who gush one day then don't recognise you the next are not at all my cup of tea. Would have been better though if you'd phoned and done it in a total monotone.

Hee he! I would have started giggling half way through! But yeah, I'm with you on that - I like to know where I am with people. I mean if one of my true friends was a bit down, and maybe snapped at me, or was a bit off with me, I'd be concerned about what was going on with her,but it's not the case here. I don't hear from hr for months, then she's calling and asking me to meet up for coffee or whatever, and then comes the pitch, whatever it is. But I'm more and more just thinking good riddance.....

lolz..that was the best most hilarious excuse ive ever seen.. lol she really had a taste of her own medicine man.. hahahaha.. good one.. i guess friends like that are not worth keeping anyway.. they are not worthy to be called friends.. after what you have done for them, they take you for granted until the next time that they need you then they will contact you first hand one way or another.. i guess she had it coming.. dont feel sorry for her.. lol

Hi, Theonehush! hehehe! I laughed as well, then I thought I was being a bit mean, then I just laughed again. That's terrible, eh? Lol! I just really wanted her to know that I don't buy her stories, and stop insulting me by trying o sell them to me any more. Like I said, if she gets in touch, I'll talk it through, but if not, I won't be chasing her. Glad I gave you a giggle! ;D
