there is a science devoted to the study of this topic and theres even a book about it over 300 pages long, the question i would like to ask is that is this phenomenon for real? can people be that vain and shallow.

Well there is absolutly no such LIMITE as to how shallow or vain any persons can be.. so in todays climate on "beauty".. its a .."No holds barred"down pour!
also.. the Education establishment will stop at nothing to put out information.. on basically anything unders the sun...
