I've had 3 c-sections. My last one they didn't give me enough anestesia and as they began to cut me open I could feel it. Unfortunately for me I had enough anestesia that I couldn't talk very loud and it took me awhile to get my husband's attention. It was a horrible experience and I still can see myself laying on the table trying to get someone's attention.

I had a c-section, and that's painful. I wouldn't want to have it again.

I say normal, natural delivery is by far the best. There is a faster recovery time- you're up and moving much more quickly and feeling better so much sooner, which is so important when you first have a baby. Also, we were designed to have these babies, c-sections should be for emergencies only. Babies need to make the journey into life.

you know, I don't care what anyone says. But I'm very proud of my c-section. I had my twins 3 years ago and I can safely say that the recovery was extremely painful. HOWEVER, I can also say that stuff down below is also VERY intact and not damaged in the slightest. it was a scheduled c-section =)

I agree with you on all counts except for the really painful part. I never felt any pain at all. Another good thing about it is when the kids are old enough to ask where they came from but still too young to understand about the birds and the bees... you can always show them the scar and say: This is where you came from :)
I'm kind of missing my scar as it has almost disappeared. I'm also very proud of mine.

I have only tried the caesarean so I can't compare it to anything. It was very unexpected and I was put to sleep and had an emergency caesarean. It had never even occured to me while I was pregnant that I wouldn't be able to give birth naturally so I always skipped all the pages in the books I read about caesareans
In those days mothers normally spent 3 or 4 days in the hospital after a normal birth and 10 days after a caesarean. I never felt any pain at all. I felt a little tickle from the stiches and was sure I would hava a huge ugly scar since it was all done in such a hurry but apparently my doctors were also sewing artists and you can hardly notice the tiny trace that is left of the scar and it's all below the bikini line.
I was treated like a queen in the hospital even though I felt fit as a fiddle. At the same time ohter mothers who had natural births had broblems sitting and I always felt like I had it much easier than them and was a little guilty about all the special treatment I was getting.
I would never have selected a caesarean and I think here in Iceland it is only used in emergencies. If you have to have one, there is nothing to be afraid of (I would have been really worried if I had known in advance because everyone talks about it like it's so terrible).

I forgot to add that I was allowed to go home on the 7th day but personally I was ready to leave the hospital a lot sooner. Another thing I forgot to mention is that there was no time for preparations as a caesarean wasn't expected but under normal circumstances the mother is fully awake and aware of what's happening. I didn't wake up untl 3 hours later and I didn't see my son until he was 4 hours old. That is the only regret I have and the fact that I felt cheated because I never got to experience childbirth.
My son was healthy and happy and still is now 10 years later and in the end, that's all that matters.

I gave birth to all 4 of my children naturally. The last birth was for twins. The were also born naturally. That was 23 years ago.

I had both of my children natural, but my daughter had to have a C-section. I would say from what she told me that the natural birth is more painfull at the time, but the C-section is so much more painful after. I would much rather have the natural because you get over it quicker and can hold your baby immediately and bond with it. My daughter had a hard time bonding because she had such a hard time, I had to take care of the baby all the time.

Well, I had to have an emergency C-section, so I can't answer for a normal delivery. I was in labor for 56 hours and pushed for 2 and half and my son wouldn't come down. He flipped twice and they had to manually go in and turn him. They called it failure to ascend. I did try to deliver natural that's why I pushed for so long, but his heart rate dropped so they had to rush me to surgery. C-section was painful, but by the next morning I was asking to walk and they let me.

I had my boy naturally. I almost needed a c-section though. The recovery time is longer with a C, and you stay the same size for a while. I lost most of my weight the first week, and knew C section "victims" (Just kidding) who hadn't lost the weight a year later. Also, no ugly scar.

I had 2 c-sections the first one was because my daughter was turned wrong and would't come out, i had already had an epideral and had been in labor for about 6 hours, and the nurse had messed up the epideral drip so i had an epideral but was still feeling all the pain of labor!!! yeah fun times there. My second delivery i had an elective C-section, and that one was great, absolutely no problems. the baby was out in 10 minutes tops, and no pain what so ever!!!
