Excuse me but, does the word enjoyable belong in the same sentence as household chores I only find cleaning therapeutic if I'm home alone and can still see where I've been 3 or 4 hours later.I had 2 weeks alone in the spring and, when I wasn't at work I was dusting and scrubbing and reaching into the depths of cupboards with the cleaning cloths etc etc. I was tired but content at the end. Now, I just look around and feel like I wasted a fortnight of my life!! (Oh that sounds like I haven't cleaned since... I have...honest...it just doesn't have the same impact)

I know what you mean, Wizzywig. I guess I just don't enjoy doing any of the things that have to be done around here because it seems that within an hour of doing anything, someone comes along and undoes it all. Sometimes I think, What's the point?

Hi wizzy that does sound like an oxymoron!
I am like you. Would reach to the unreachable spots and bend, stretch, crawl in to get that one spot clean. My mom thinks I am a Sunday freak for on Sundays i clean my house like mad.

Hello mimpi1911 this is checkmail and like many household chores like washing, drying, cleaning, arranging of utencils, clothes, even like to iron the clothes and realyl do enjoy this stuff.I wake up eary in the morning to stock up some drinking water, later manage some kitchen for mine breakfast.I enjoy ironing of clothes as its also feels warmth, especially in winters.Even arranging the thing to its proper places is an fun game, sometimes even get some lost money in that work.So its fun to do some household chores after all.

Hmmm, enjoyable chore? Isn't that an oximoron? I do enjoy washing dishes, though. I like it, I think, because it's something that gets done and looks good when it's finished, when the dishes are all cleaned and put away. There are so many chores that never seem to get done, like laundry. It never fails that, when I think I've done all the laundry, I always find one or two pieces of clothing that need washing. But, when the dishes are washed and put away and the sink is clean and shining, I always get a good feeling.
Other than that, I don't think there is any other chore that I would say is enjoyable. Oh, I like a clean house but I don't enjoy cleaning it.
I hate ironing, too. These days, I only iron what I plan to wear that day and only if I'm planning to go out or have company over. Other than those times, I don't care if I'm all wrinkly or not. LOL
I remember my mother ironing our bed sheets. You'd never find me ironing sheets! But, in her defense, way back then the sheets were all made of 100% cotton and did wrinkle pretty badly. We didn't have a clothes dryer so they didn't get "fluffed", they just hung on the clothesline and dried, leaving them wrinkled. Still, geez, we sleep on those sheets and they're going to get wrinkled anyway, right?

I agree with you M. It gives a nice cleaning, all clean and done and a clean kitchen and good smelling rooms and bathroom certainly make us feel good. I am not a cleanliness freak though. I only clean when I can, when I have time.
You are right and I appreciate your mom ironing the bed sheets as well. We use 100% cotton bed sheets but we do not iron. My mom hangs them very neatly on the clothesline and we use semi automatic washing machine. So, the wrinkles are bearable.

Hey mimpi! I'm with you on the ironing! I hate that the most
of all the chores! When I was working I would do laundry on
Saturday and iron on Sunday morning and I would just about be
crying! My back would hurt standing and ironing my work clothes
for the week! I'm glad I don't have to do that anymore! I don't
love cleaning, but once I get started I'm ok! I have a bad knee
and bad back so bending and standing hurts which makes cleaning
certain things like the tub and vacumning difficult! But, I
just do it anyway! Another mylotter told me to get a certain
back brace, but I am so stubborn and haven't tried it yet! I
went all the way to the store to get it and it has been just
sitting here! I really need to give it a try to see if it works
as well as she said! Then maybe doing my chores wouldn't be so
painful!lol

I tend to enjoy washing dishes and sometimes dusting. Although the dust in the air gest to me sometimes, I just enjoy turning up some music and getting everything clean. As for dishes, it is just a relieving activity for me because my mind doesn't focus on anything else during that time. I hate having a messy kitchen, so i always feel better when everything is clean and put back in place.

Music does help to work more and faster. I always have it on when alone at home. We do not use dish washer but I quite like washing them clean. A clean kitchen and bathroom makes me the happiest.

I would squirm into a corner or into hiding somewhere when it came to doing any household chores within the house. My mom would give me shout and get me to go around doing at least some of them. Now of course do some of them knowing fully well that i have to do them.
The washing part i have to so got kind of used to it.
The only one i'd really get myself to go about doing with a little interest is cleaning and arranging the shelves and show cases.

That's a boring job, I agree. We get a lot of dust here and even with all the doors and windows closed, the furniture gets full of dust. We have to clean everyday but I only clean on Sundays from morning till afternoon before taking shower. After that I would not touch the duster.

'Enjoyable chores' did sound like a oxymoron, more so for you.
Cooking is definitely easier of the lot if you like it.

It is cooking for me, though there are times that i really get so lazy i just want to buy ready to eat food. But then, again, there is no match to the fulfillment i get when i see my family enjoying what i had prepared for them. I prefer ironing than washing even with the help of a washing machine.

Cooking is one thing I like as well. Even though I do not cook regularly but I do get excited at the thought of it whenever my friends come over. One dish or two at the most - but it really feels good to see others enjoying it and wanting more to eat. That reminds me, I must praise my mo more often.

Wanna come clean for me then, mimpi? *LOL*
There really are no household chores that I find enjoyable or therapeutic. I can always find something else to do. But, if I have to pick something, I guess it would be doing the laundry.

Sure! I can clean for you, anytime.
The days when I am at home for longer hours and have nothing much to do except thinking about upsetting stuffs, I get the duster and start cleaning. It helps.

I also hate ironing i find it to be not needed most of the time. I do not mind doing the laundry or cleaning the house. I also do not like unloading the dishwasher that i believe is my least favorite think to do because I'm not a fan of the bending down and picking up heavy dishes. There are things like doing the laundry that is needed everyday and i have found that to be my most favorite thing to do as it is the easiest chore to do.
I also don't like doing yard work, but know it has to be done for the outside of the house to look nice. There are so many chores that have to be done around the house both inside and outside and when you buy a house you are the one who will be doing all of it.

So true Lolo! Household chores never kind of ends. We do not use dishwasher, so I am saved on that part. Also, we get cheap domestic helps unlike your place - that's another advantage. I love cleaning though. Nothing like having to relax inside a neat interior. I just love it after the end of it all.

Mimpi my dear there's just no such thing. I loathe any form of housework at all as it is repetivtive and boring and needs doing again. I can quite easily be distracted from doing it completely. I wish I could afford a cleaner to do it all but I can't so have it down to a few minutes worth at a time.

How I wish a robot doing it all for me! I love a clean house and have always felt that a couple of more hours between 3 to 6 would help me in time management.

Helolo Mimi1911
I like vaccum cleaning and mapping the floor. Smelling the fresh scent and knowing my feet will pick up somehting that will get stuck in my foot or I say ouch etc..
Also the bathroom is my room that I like really clean and the kitchen.
Wash is ok and dishes ok but it never ending. I do hate folding and putting the clothes away I never seem to have enough room to put it.
Thanks Sincerely Unique16

Hi unique!
Bathroom is my room as well. I have a big one and love to have it clean, dry and with all kinds of cosmetics and lotions. Folding clothes is something I do not quite like as well.

Washing is my favorite chore. Before I knew how I thought it would be the hardest. I was afraid I would ruin my favorite clothes but I didn't Now I have it down to a science. In fact it is fun.

Ironing is really a boring job. I used to iron my clothes when I was young. I learned how from my elder sister. But later I never do it again. It is troublesome. I don't think that I have a most enjoyable household chores, but I am happy to do it when I have to face the job.

It stresses me out terribly when I have a lot of cleaning to do knowing I have to find the time to do it and sometimes thats really hard with taking care of two little kids 24/7. I love though after everything is all clean and the house is tidy the great feeling you get of having a clean house to sit down in and relax. My favorite household chore is definitely vaccuming! I LOVE IT! I vaccuum the down stairs carpets where there is a lot of traffic usually twice a day. I love when the carpet has lint or anything on it to see it all get sucked up in the vaccuum and see how nice the carpet looks after being vaccuumed. I love to hear things get sucked up in the vaccuum like clumps of dirt etc.

I don't really have a favorite chore, but there are some that I don't mind as much as others, like laundry and vacuuming.
