why can they not say nice things like our taxs are going to get lowered or every house hold will pay less on something rather than more on things all the time.

News headlines you wont ever see in a paper or on the nightly report... 1. 299,930,000 drivers made it safely to their destinations today, car insurance companies disapointed. 2. 2 hundred million U.S. children were tucked safely in their bed tonight and were not abducted. 3. 10,000 planes all landed safely today, passengers deboard unharmed at their destination. 4. thousands of U.S. cities experienced normal sunny weather today, with no floods, tornados, hurricanes, blizzards or violent thunderstorms. Experts baffled. 5. 299,999,900 people lived another day, with out being murdered.

I have often wandered the very same thing. I get so tired of watching the news when all I ever seem to hear is negative things also or someone has killed someone else. I usually watch the weather and shut it off. It gets on my nerves.

Well, the news is supposed to be truth, but we could write a fiction where things came down in price, I guess, and we were all happily ever after. Doom and gloom, gossip and violence sell, and that is what news is really about, selling views.

Yes, I have noticed this, but they tend to put on the news what sells and I have noticed how people always like to talk about what it bad and rarely do I hear upbeat and positive discussions when I am out and about. Even in this festive season, people are looking troubled as they walk around the stores. It is strange to hear all the festive music coming from the open doorways into the street, yet people looking so stressed. Maybe is all the newspapers carried happy stories and all the news bulletins did the same, nobody would buy newspapers, and nobody would watch or listen to news. I once read that if all the people are afraid of something, then they can be controlled, so maybe news is there just the scare the hell out of us all! - Derek

I hate to think of all of the children that hear as well as watch bits of the news as i am sure with them putting the news on during the day as well as in the evening this must worry the children hearing that parents have killed their own children as well as some of the other news they say.

I fully agree with you that it must be upsetting to the children, but their excuse is that children need to have a true idea of what the world is really like. So I guess it is up to us humans to change our world for the better. - Derek

The news is not where to go to get your daily inspiration. I like to read the bible and then sometimes I watch the news it helps even out the craziness

I think it is all a bunch of sensationalism, and that the media is pandering to the people who are interested in the most depressing news in the world. I don't know... it's just like the paperazzi who take pictures of celebrities at their worst. Humans in general seem to be a bunch of prying idiots when it comes to the news. Thank God there are people like you and I out there whoa are not like that.

I am glad that i am not the only one that thinks the same of the news as there are alot of people out there that thrive on other peoples misery.I know there would be less people watching the news if it was only nice things that were on it,but even at this time of year all you hear is the sad things.

HI, Yeah, the news are always telling about negative stories or stories which would attract a lot of readers. I think if they only write about happy stories maybe their media will not be a favorite and they will not be able to survive in the industry for long. Maybe the news are reporting it because it is the actual truth. Our politics nowadays are somewhat responsible for the events too, since they play the major role in determining the way we live and the way we spend in our country.

I think you are right and i do understand that they have to print the truth and that all the stories are good ratings for them as all news also sells news papers, but wouldnt it be nice if there was a day with no nasty news and there was only nice things to say rathewr than all that doom and gloom.

Hi JJ, the one thing I try to avoid doing is watching news, as you say all it is is gloom and doom so what is the use of hearing it day after day when you know nothing is going to change or it is only going to get worse. The only thing I like to know is about the budget! That normally is the same but at least its useful to know what is happening with your money...LoLo

jugsjugs you want the world to be fair and all people to be perfect and my dear person, that just aint going to happen. people are not fair at least not all the time or perfect either. sadly bad news seems to sell papers and some people look for the doom and gloom cause they are afraid to be happy. we have to make ourselves happy, other people cannot do it for us. I am stuck here in a retirement home when I would rather be back in an apartment with my son, he is out of work and stuck in a sponsored housing and he would rather be working and have an apartment with me his mom.but right now we cannot do that yet so I am making myself be happy. make yourself happy too. we all have problems and worries but we do not have to let it sour us on life. there is a lot of good in this world, look for it.

I do not like to let the children hear some of the things on the news as i think they can tend to worry and the news with all the nasty things is on during the day as well as evenings so children do get to hear about it.

I know I keep thinking the same thing. Everyday its the same garbage with kids being killed, females being kidnapped or killed. Prices of everything from food to gas going up. Nothing goes down. The news as so much bad stuff to say how do those anchor people deal with such hardship everyday. Why can't they have more good news then bad. I guess its because this is the way of the world. Its really depressing.

Hi. I also wonder why. Hmm, maybe because negative things/happenings could be sold on the news better than the positives. Or, maybe the negatives could attract people's attention faster as these are mostly controversial and most likely, a good source of several points for discussion.

I just think it is like people say a ratings thing where as alot of people tune in to hear all the bad things that the stars have been upto as well as all the crimes, then they can go and discuss the news with other people as well.

Yes, news media networks just appeal to the senses of the they're viewers. In a way, they deliver more bad news because people tend to discuss these happenings more often than the good ones.
