which is the best search engine that is user friendly apart from Google?

You may want to check out http://quickfind.ijango.com I have recently started using it and I think your find it to be useful as well. They also offer you a free search portal to use and earn cash when you shop online! Check it out and tell me what you think.

It's hard to say. I think yahoo is user friendly.

ya there are other sites available. 1. altavista 2. alexa 3. delver. If you want more engines you can always find them in the wiki page. I have not included yahoo in the list because everybody knows about it.
