i thought extra food but my little fat dog is on a diet, and the round fat hamster is on low calorie munchies, the fat guinea pigs are veg only and cost a fortune to keep, we are actually considering stuffing and cooking them for christmas dinner lol. so it would be cheaper to buy a present than extra food :-).

There is one thing they all love and thats treats! Even a head of lettuce for your rabbits/ guineas or a special bug for your reptiles. Just anything that they dont already have or that they don't get all that often. A new hiding house or a new rock to perch on, a bigger cage, etc. They will be happier and you will be happier knowing that they are happier!

I always get my dog Christmas presents like sweaters, treats, and toys. I also buy gifts for all my friends animals. They have dogs, cats, and birds.

Possible gift selections for each type of pet: Dog - treats, sweater/shirts, toys Cat - treats, catnip, scratching post, toys Hamster/Guinea Pig/Rabbit - Wood chew blocks for their teeth, salt wheels, Empty paper towel or toilet paper rolls, fruit/nut chews. Also for the rabbit a hard rubber ball with a bell; my rabbit I had as a kid loved his. Reptiles - Warming rocks I only have dogs so they are the only ones I buy for.

For a dog or cat a new toy might be acceptable. Animals love new things to play with. as for hamsters and other things, maybe something intertaining for them too. Do some research into what they might like aside from the obvious food and water. George and I have three cats, but we can't buy them much of anything. So we'll bring home an old box. They seam to love that quite a bit. About two months ago we went to aldies to get some food and other goodies and we emptied a box. So aldies says if its empty... take it... so we did and the cats love it. They all have been in it more then once and find it quite interesting. So there you go, something simple.... animals will eat it up.
