Mistakes are not deliberate most of the times. But we do commit mistakes many times knowing that it's a mistake and it's going to harm us, and regret it later.
But still, mistakes do affect our success, but success is not a goal isn't it? Success is not a destination. It's a journey. If one mistake of your's has affected our success in achieving something, I guess it's should be a hard lesson for us to learn and move on and work harder and better ourselves, so we can attain much better results than what we expected to achieve.
It's human to err, but we must learn and try not to commit those errors again in future. We have to learn to increase our awareness to attain perfection.

They say to 'Err is human!' - in other words we are born to make mistakes because we are just that - human. We are being controlled a lot of the time by our emotions which sometimes leads us to take the the least helpful action. The important thing is to look back and say to ourselves 'Yep! I got that wrong but I've learned from it!' But remember to only look back for a split second because where you are going forward is what truely matters. Regrets are useless and get us nowhere. Focus on new things you are aiming for that are obtainable and achievable - not on dreams which are surreal.

everything happens for a purpose. maybe mistakes are trying to tell you that this is not your path. go another way or try something else until you meet your match what is perfect for you.

Hi Neha_jain,
Mistakes can definitely lead onto other successes and can often be viewed as not even being mistakes. At the time the mistake took place you were probably completely convinced you were doing the right thing (as long as it was not harmful in any way.)If you are not able to achieve your dreams maybe looking at what is holding you back now and not in the past would be a bit more handy. I have been putting off writing my stories for years and years. I always have an excuse as to why I haven't done it, even when opportunties have been handed to me on a silver plate. You will always have reasons why and these reasons are not bad decisions or mistakes but rainchecks until you are good and ready.

What is sucess in your mind? I think to be sucessful is not that hard. Just to be a better man. Better in carrer, better life and happier. To be successful, you just try your best, we all made many many mistakes, and we also learn from those mistakes, and mistakes lead us to the final success. So I think mistakes not all be the negative, you can see the position part to success.

I try to keep my mind off such questions because they inevitably lead to one questioning their own past decisions, which only render one immobile in the Present! I know what you mean but I like to think of the present as far much more important than the past or the thought of the future.
