hello i dont know if anyone can help but i saw an advert for a secret shopper i filled in the form and looked at the details, it said get paid to shop buy things write a report on your experience and send survey's to whoever hires you, sounds good so far, it then said there was aone off fee to enter the forum to see the jobs refundable in sixty days if not satisfied. i wondered if anyone had been a secret shopper or knows any information on this type of work, does it pay well? pros and cons, it said advertised on the BBC and seems to be legitimate i know people do this type of work i just don,t know anything about it or anyone who has done it.

I was a mystery shopper many years ago and I was paid $9.00 for each assignment. I sent in the receipt of what I brought and was refunded but there was not to many place where I lived that used mystery shoppers so I do not do it anymore. I did not pay the company I work for and if I was you I would not pay anyone to become a mystery shopper check online to find companies that do not want a fee.

Ehhh I always thought secret shoppers were under cover store police. Thats what my dad used to tell us growing up "Don't touch that! See that lady over there? Shes one of those secret shoppers and she'll throw you in jail"

I would advise you against paying a fee to become a mystery shopper. I did mystery shopping for about a year. All that you have to do is go to any search engine and search mystery shopping and tons of websites will pop up. Yes, you will have to weed through them to find those that are actual mystery shopping companies like imyst etc. If you want something to do and want to make a LITTLE extra money, give it a try. I gave it up because it didn't make a lot of economic sense to me. I got paid between $10-$15 per shop but all of the expenses are yours alone. So out of the money that you're paid, you have to pay for your own gas, paper etc. Reports do have to be submitted that typically take about 15 minutes to complete and have to be faxed (sometimes to a toll free number sometimes it is a long distance call). In addition, you not only have to make the purchase, you also have to return the purchase. Do the math. I don't think that you'll find it worthwhile. At the end, when I did it, I only accepted shops when I could complete multiple shops in the same shopping center.
