If you someone walking ahead of you and you saw them drop and bunch (lets say $300) would you give it back? Would you call out to them and let them know? Would you pick it up and take if for your self? Would you feel guilty if you took it? What if you knew for a fact you wouldn't get caught? Has this happened before to you?
This has happened to me before. I have been the one who has dropped the money (someone was nice enough to yell "hey you drooped your money!!" and i have picked it up and giving it to the person who has dropped it!!

Of course I would give it back without question, that is IF I saw someone drop it and it wouldn't even matter how fast the person is going. It doesn't even matter if the person is about to board a car or something when I SAW that person drop the money and most importantly, it doesn't matter how much that person dropped as long as I SAW that person drop the money. But if I do see any along the street and the one who dropped it is long gone or I haven't seen anyone drop it, it's going to be finders' keepers. That depends on the value of the dropped cash though. If it's quite a sum, I'd rather contact authorities or have it broadcast through public media like local radios or local police but I won't surrender the money until I get to meet the owner personally. I, as well, won't trust anyone else to give it to them.

Heh heh, I'm just so much more paranoid to think that. But truth be told, there are a lot of people out there, even the good ones or even cops themselves would just keep the money for themselves instead of giving it to the owners. Or probably would take a little something from the cash and give only a part of it back and I don't like them doing that because I'm sure enough I won't such a thing. Better give it to the owner all intact. Hell I don't even care if they'd give me any reward as long as I've given it back and been honest enough. It's true, karma has a really nasty way of getting back at you and I don't want that to happen.

Well said!
I never even thought of giving it to the cops or something! If it was a large amount i bet a person would go to the cops and say their money is missing!

I'd definitely give it back to them if they dropped it. That's the honest thing to do. Also if I found someone's wallet in the street or something then I'd return it to them.
However, let's say that I'm taking my dog for a walk in the early evening. There's no one on our street but me, and I see a $100 bill laying in the middle of the street. In that case, when there is no way for me to find out who it belongs to, I would pick it up and keep it.

that would have been a valid point but If I were in that situation, I wouldn't leave just yet. Meaning, there's a slim or slight chance that who ever left it out will probably come back to that area and look for it. of course, chances are they will find it out when they check their pockets or purchase something. after a few minutes if there was still no people claiming it i would surely take it.

I will return the money, If it happens in a public place, there is the tendency that someone may see you doing it and you don't know who. Several times, I have called out to people when they dropped thier money and people have done same to me. It is just the right thing to do.

Thats a new thing i didn't think about... someone else could see you pick up money that is not yours and could say something or yell to the person that drooped it!

Yes, I would, and I have done this before. While waiting at the bus stop, I saw someone dropped a few bills on the floor (I'm not sure how much, I didn't check) and because the bus was coming, the person didn't notice. I could have kept it for myself, but instead I ran up to him and returned the money.
Of course, if there was no one around, then I would have taken it, but I saw the person drop it. Returning it was the only choice for me, I would feel that it would be too mean to keep the money. And I don't like being mean, it doesn't feel nice

If I saw someone accidentally drop his money of course I will give it back to him. I dont want the feeling of guilt and although sometimes i need money, it is not the reason why i should keep the money from it's owner because maybe he will need that than I do.

Surprisingly, I would give it back. There had to have been a reason why someone would just carry 300 dollars around with them.

good point it would have to be put aside for a bill or something unless their just wicked rich (and in the case maybe they'd give you a reward- i would!)

I agree 100% !
I believe in Carma and i would feel sooooo guilty if i took it. I mean you have no clue what the money was going to be used for... it could have been used for bills or something!

Yes, I would give it back. I would even chase after them if it was possible and safe in order to return it to them. I have even done it in a grocery line where I wasn't sure it was the person's money but they were in line ahead of me and so I gave it to them; it was a $5 bill and from their reaction it was obvious that it wasn't theirs but they took it anyway. So in the future, it I don't actually see them drop it, I may think twice about it.

Thats a good point... if your not sure its theirs should you try to give it to them. If someone tried to give me money i wouldn't take it if it wasn't mine but i bet a lot of people would!

If I actually saw them drop it, then yes, I would give it back. If I just saw it laying there, I wouldn't cause I wouldn't know who to give it to, but if I saw someone looking for something, I would have to think that it is theirs and ask them if they lost something. If they could tell me the amount, I would give it back to them.

Hi, Jennifer! Welcome to myLot!
If I encounter something like this, I will definitely call out the person and inform him/her about the money. It never crossed my mind that I will pick it up and use it. It's dirty to do something like that and it's the same meaning as stealing. I know sometimes it happens, but there are dishonest people who will admit that the money is theirs and just pick it up without feeling any guilt. What you did was so nice and the person who called out to you must be surprised when you gave him/her the money.

If a person drop his/her money I would give it back. The first thing is it's not mine and that person might really need the money. But if while I'm walking alone on the street and there's no other people but me and i saw a money well if it's just a money i'll get it. If it's a wallet I will try to find any Id that will lead me to find the owner of that wallet. It's better to return it than to use it. Why? What if the owner of the wallet has a big financial problem or one of his/her family member is in the hospital? Returning the money will be a great help for the person who lost it.

Count me in as one who would return it too! It would be unfair to the person who dropped the money. And I don't think I would be able to sleep if I know I could have returned it, and I didn't.
Like other posters here, the only way I would keep it, if is there is no way to know who the money belongs to. $300 is $300!

Right now $300 is a good amount of money and someone could really need it. What if i was all the money they had left to buy/pay something

Finders keepers is my policy. Of course with some exceptions, if some elderly people have dropped the money, I will certainly hand it back. Once again if it is handicapped person or a pregnant woman, I hand it back. For others, well it is their loss.

hello Jennifer,
Only a selfish greed monkey can do such a thing. as for me, so far it hasn't got it in my head yet. meaning when ever i am into this situation i see to it that i get ti back.
there was this one time back in high-school, i was tired and on my way home in a colorum service van and when we hit the pit stop, i left last because i was in the edge of the seat. the guy left his wallet, but it was too late to give it to him since he's gone already.
I didn't stop instead I called that was in his wallet and told them about it. they went back and found my house and i gave back the wallet, that was it and the lady said "it's only a few people like me still exist"

Hello jennifer
I will not take that money. When I know that it is not mine and belong to the person who is walking ahead of me, my conscious won't permit me to take that money. It is equivalent to stealing which I won't do. Instead, I will call that person and tell him that his money has been fell down or pick up that money and give it to him after telling that he has dropped it.

ill bring it back too, but it depends of the situation. what if that money was stolen... another thing is that, i really don't believe in carma, because there will be a day for all to repay everything they done(judgment day). by not by carma.
