What is it that you are thankful for this holiday?

I am thankful for my children. I am less selfish this Holiday season for good reasons. My son has been sick since he was 4 months old. In and out of the hospitals for a little over a year now. I am thankful for his doctors whom have givin us time. It has been a long rough road for myself and my family but more so, my baby boy. I give thanks for his bright smile, his hugs and kisses and most of all him giving me the honor of just being his mother. With the help of his doctors in Chicago we got the referral to Cincinnati Children's Hospital. This is the best Christmas present I could have ever recieved. They are # 4 in the world for cancer research and # 1 for bone marrow transplants. At 17 months he is only 15 lbs and wears only 3-6 month clothing , but he has a heart of a saint. His smile and understanding is sometimes too much to bare. But he can melt the heart of anyone he comes in contact with. Within all that pain and grimace comes a smile. I beg all to pray and to think of these poor and innocent children in the hospitals for the holidays. My son spent his first and his second Thanksgiving in the hospital. While most gather around the table to eat my son could not even have a bottle of formula and this year not even milk. The first thanksgiving he was on NPO due to a spinal tap and this year he was too sick to even eat cause of all the pressure in head. We might be home for christmas but it is not for sure yet. This is not to bum anyone out, only to bring to light that there are children that call the hospital home for the holidays. Life is what I am thankful for!

I am very thanful to still have my family close to me. I am thankful to be able to work from home and pay my bills and help to provide for my family too. I am very thankful to have a roof over my head also.

I am thankful to have a supportive family and friends everyday of my life. Like you for years I have been dealing with family illness since I was a small child. Between my grandparents, parents, and siblings someone has always been seriously ill during the holidays. I can not remember one chiritmas that we were not visiting someone in my family in the hospital. Unfortunately I have lost both of my grandmothers in the past two years. This has been the first holiday season when we have not been in and out of the hospitals. It's strange to think that even though it was hard spending the holidays that way, when its gone you miss it.I dont know how the rest of this holiday season is going to go, but we are keeping our fingers crossed.I will pray for your son and all the children suffering this holiday season. I could not even begin to imagine the things that you and your child go through. I hope that you can all enjoy this holiday season.
