I put up my credit cards a year ago and I absolutely refuse to pull them out for Christmas and use them!! Of course, that means that Christmas will be not be much. My kids are complaining and asking for everything like there really is a Santa. (By the way they are 12 and 17)
This is killing me but I REFUSE!!! How bout you?

Credit cards. I have 7 credit cards. I nearly never use cash when possible. I apply these credit cards simply for the little present when you apply for it instead of borrowing money from the bank. Also, for their cute patterns. All cards in my wallet are golden cards, so they give me a satisfaction of identity recognition.

I will also not be using credit cards! But, not for being wise, and frugal, and all the good reasons put up by most responders in this discussion. It is because my credit cards are all(I only got 2) almost maxed out. And a few months ago, I've laid out a schedule to recover from this debt. So I am going to stick to my schedule Christmas or not! A recovering debtor, if you will.
So, just debit card for this Christmas.

You have taken a very good decision. I dont use a credit card. I only have a debit card and i am averse to owning a credit card as it promotes spending beyond one's means and is also the most expensive way of making payments.

I refuse to go into debt for plastic toys (crap) that will be broken by January. It is not worth it to go into debt for your spouse, children, or teens wants.

I'm with you canesfan. We have never carried credit card debt in the last 15 years. I have one that I use on-line and I pay it off every month. We have had so many credit card companies and a couple of banks try to selll us on the rewards of a better credit rating if we just carried more credit debt.
When my husband got layed off unexpectedly this summer, our reward came in the form of not having to deal with the interest and penalties credit cards are notorious for.

Hello canesfan1964
I be using cash. Canot afford to use credit and it takes forever to pay off.
I wonder how many people will be using credit this year kknowing the rules of the credit cards will be change come Febraury 2010 about late fees and if you do not pay the full amount.
Thanks and Have a Great day
