I had the wrong "sleep number"

Over the past week, our bedroom has been totally upsidedown. When the skylight leaked really bad onto the bed, we decided to finally have it removed. So we had to pull it out into the middle of the floor while the work was being done. A few times, the controls for the sleep number had to be unplugged and it messed up the firmness of the beds. The other night the construction was done and we moved the bed back to where it belongs. But I haven't been very comfortable sleeping, and my back has been bothering me during the day. This morning I decided to totally inflate my half of the bed and readjust my number. As I'm pushing the control button to inflate the mattress I see that it's not doing anything, but as I look to my husband's side of the bed I see that his side is totally inflated. I pulled out the bed, moved the controls to the correct side of the bed and started all over again. Now I've got my side adjusted, but I told my husband about it so he knew to adjust his side. His comment was "I was wondering why mine wasn't adjusting" - he had been trying to adjust his side every night, but he was messing with my side! Tonight should be a very comfy night :)
Do you have a sleep number bed? Do you ever have to adjust yours?

I've been wanting to get a sleep number bed but haven't been able to afford one. I wake up every night in pain. I probably wake up because of the pain. I had posted a discussion here a while ago, asking what the best mattress would be. I wanted opinions on different mattresses by people who actually used them. The Sleep Number bed sounded like my ideal solution, especially because my husband likes a soft mattress but I sleep much better on a firmer bed.
I expected to be able to buy it some time ago because of my disability case finally showing some forward movement. Unfortunately, even though I had my hearing back in February and was not approved until August, I STILL have not received the check for the 9 years I've been disabled. The latest I was told was that I should get it by today, so we'll see. I'm not holding my breath, though, because they've lied to me so many ties before.
But, if I ever do get that check, I'll be buying a Sleep Number bed. But now I have a question for you. How long have you had your bed? I don't want to think that I'll be buying something that's rather expensive if it's going to get all weird on me concerning the firmness. That's the entire reason for me buying one!
(Sorry about the rant about disability but I've reached my limit now. I actually had a primal scream in my car right after checking the mail yesterday and not seeing a check. It felt GOOD to let that frustration out! LOL)

No I don't. I don't even have enough money for one of those. I do however like the bed I'm sleeping on. Well George and I do.
