The first time!

Do you remember the very first time you went out and played in the rain? As I sat here thinking about all the little joys that I have had in my life. I got to thinking about the very simple joys and the first one that popped in my head was playing in the rain. The first time I got to go outside to play in the rain was when I was 5, my grandmother had gotten me a brand new pair of rainboots. Oh I was so excited I wanted to try them out and oh what a perfect day to receive them. It was a very steady heavy raining day, I begged my mother to let me go outside. After about an hour of me bothering her, she finally let me go out. I had the time of my life, I jumped into deep water puddles and was so excited that my feet didn't get wet. I then squished around in the grass in front of my grandparents house giggling over the sound that my boots made on the grass. Then after the rain slowed, I wondered to a big mud puddle, one of my boots stuck and I couldn't move. I became scared, I started to yell but no one could hear me from inside the house. I was behind my grandparents house at the time in the middle of the alley. Finally after getting extremely frustrated, I took my foot out of the boot then began to try and pull my boot out of the mud. I pulled and pulled then finally the mud let loose of my boot, I fell on my butt, mud squishing every where around me. I laughed even harder. Finally, I felt cold and to wet to stay outside, I decided it was time to go indoors for some hot chocolate. Well, my parents and grandparents wouldn't let me back in because I was all muddy. My mother then directed me in through the garage. I couldn't believe it, she made me wait until she had a towel to wrap me in and let me in the house. Do you have a memory like this? What was it? What did you do?

hey hi chulce, first of all the account you have given about your first encounter with rain is very nostalgic and very well written. While reading your account I also felt about my earlier days when life was so fun filled and easy.Rains used to be so enjoyable.I remember that my mom never used to allow me to play in the rain as I may get cold but I will always sneak out through her clutches and get a good beating after I return. But I was never afraid of the beating as the fun and enjoyment of getting drenched in rain used to be overwhelming. But life has changed nowadays,I just wish i can relive my childhood once more.

Thank you for the compliments. I am a writer and I find by coming on here to Mylot I can add to my writing practices, attempting to remember proper grammar and sentence structure. I find it important and hopefully a way to help others on Mylot as well. :) I am glad you had fun as a child, I too wish that I could relive some of my childhood, however there are a lot of parts I would much rather forget. I feel that all of our lives could be considered a childhood, we just have to find our paths then make sure we have fun doing things as well. Have a wonderful day!

Loved jumping into the mud puddles after a rain storm, of course it all depended on where we lived at the time, while growing up. In the desert, the ground would suck up the water so quickly, that there wasn't really any time to jump in the puddles. Or the times when the puddles were so large I feared that I might drown or find some scary critter hiding in it.

Hi chulce....a very nice discussion... Although I don't remember the first time I played in rain but I do remember one of the best experience when I played in rain...it was when I was about 6 yrs old...I was at my grandparents house in my native village....it was special because that was the first and the only once that I was experiencing snow fall...not exactly a snow fall but it was small ice cubes falling along with water...sometimes it use to hurt but the fun and joy was more than that....it was so cold...I was trying to collect those ice cubes... I wish I could see such a rain again... happy mylotting...

What a wonderful memory. :) Today, we are actually experiencing some snow in our little town here in Texas and from what a lot of people have told me, this is a first in a long time for snow to fall. Although it is not settling on the ground it is still very beautiful.

I exactly don't remember the first time i went out to play in the rain... but i do remember the many times i played in the rain... when i was in school and used to come home and rush to the ground for football, even in the rainy season there was no stopping us... mom kept on yelling at us but still that yelling hardly went to our ears... but now as i grew older, i haven't played in the rain in the last 3 years... i really miss those moments... i wish i have a football in hand and i go out in my terrace and play in the rain... or if not football atleast i would love to dance in the rain again...

When there is time, I say get out there and enjoy the rain when ever possible. :) There are so many small pleasures that we still have all around us, we each need to take the time to enjoy them and include them in our lives when we can. Here it is the holidays and one of my enjoyments is decorating my home. I actually didn't do much last year for some reason, I didn't want to, but this year, I finally am ready to enjoy doing it again. Of course there are many things I will need to prepare before I can, but, that's all right as well. I can take the time.

I can honestly say that I don't really remember doing such a thing. But, I know I must have been preaty young. Quite frankly I don't like being wet all that long unless of course I'm swimming.

That's quite all right. It was just a thought. We all have things that we truly enjoy doing. I am sure you have an event that you remember very fondly from your childhood that you did and probably from time to time think about. Thanks for commenting and have a fabulous time mylotting!

I really don't know when but I remember those care free days when we play in the rain with my brothers. We usually play with paper ships and had them float in the drainage. Unfortunately, they all go down when the rain pours so hard. We also play just about anything we can think of. Afterwards, mom would call us if we stayed for too long. We would run and rinse ourselves and eat a hot porridge my dad prepared for us. How I miss the old days.
