Trojan / virus attack after using MyLot...

Has anyone else experienced this? Since I've been on MyLot, using my work PC (obviously; it's not like I actually do anything...), I've had three serious trojan attacks whilst using the site... I happen to have a fair idea of what to do about it, but that's not much consolation. (Don't use IE; install an anti-virus scanner; run SpyBot TeaTime.exe, etc.) Has anyone else had these issues? Does MyLot have any comment?

My other computer is K.O. after a virus from here last week. I removed it but it took something else with it and now Windows won't let me read the screen There are now many users saying that they are having the same problem so we must inform myLot. Maybe they are not seeing these discussions. I am aware of another Lotter who is not logging in because each time she opends the home page she is told that she is infected too

I am not at all competent on how the inside of a computer works. If I switch it on and it goes then I know what I can do with it from there onwards but I have no idea about other stuff. Fortunately I have a couple of friends who keep an eye on me and when I have problems they try and deal with them. One should be here later and is going to do something which will either get it back to where it was or will confirm that I (meaning 'they') have to format. I will not lose anything important because that data is stored elswhere - I did learn how to do that all by myself At the bottom of the page is a 'contact' link. Once you open it you will find a drop-down menu. Go to 'other' and you can then write whatever you like. I am going to send them the link to this discussion and another on which I responded hoping that they will then become aware of what appears to be a problem

Hi, sorry to hear about your computer... Have you tried a system restore? Did you have backup copies of all the important stuff? I'd have thought that the MyLot admin team would come across a thread about viruses fairly early on. They seem to be very efficient at monitoring everything else... How would I go about informing them of my concerns? (Whilst I don't wish viruses on anyone else, I'm glad that I'm not the only one suffering! It implies that it is, in fact, the site - and not an existing problem with my PC.)

Hi Mjay, not a thing on the one I use for mylot but my sons laptop was infected with 35 trojan viruses from some anti viurs thing which wouldn't go away and expected me to pay vast sums to install it and get rid of the things it had infected it with. A friend on here talked me through getting rid of them by resetting something on the first black screen where you sign on and that got rid of them really easily. Just don't hit any of the blue lines on here though, I got one accidentally and it shut the whole system down.

Ouch... Sounds painful. The viruses that downloaded themselves onto my work PC were really horrible; they interrupted any new program launch, saying that the .exe was infected (which, of course, it wasn't). I had to alter the msconfig file, shut the power off and run SpyBot before booting into Windows. It worked - but I had to sit at my desk like a lemon (at work) running the scanner for 45 minutes! Thanks for your response.

I have not had any trojan attacks as of yet. But since I came back to mylot a couple of months ago, my computer is crashing suddenly without any reason. I have tried different things and have scanned my PC twice but could not find any virus or malware. I hope these problems stop.

I had this problem a few weeks back as well and started a discussion about it as well because I have never had it happen before and was a bit confused. I ran a virus scan and it didn't show anything so I decided to try mylot on my other browser(Internet Explorer) and since then haven't had any problems. I was using Firefox and was continuously getting a pop up about having potential viruses, I am guessing it must of been something to do with Firefox because I have yet to have that problem with Internet Explorer....I have heard a few different discussions about the same thing i would suggest contacting mylot if it continues.

How strange... I only got attacked when I was using the newest, fully-upgraded version of Internet Explorer - nothing, but nothing, when I was using my half-updated Firefox install! Maybe I should try Chrome and see what that's like. Thanks for your reply!

Maybe it's just me... Kinda figures; I am a total tool. Do you run anti-virus software on your machine? What security measures do you take? Thanks for your repsonse.
