Christmas is near, time for toys and time for tears, a gathering of our loved ones. Chritmas is the best time of the year for Filipinos. The best food is served. We wear our best clothes. The tunes of "Ang Pasko ay Sumapit" (Christmas Comes) and " Payapang Daigdig" (Peaceful World) are being played on the next door neighbor's karaoke machine. Some families take out of town trips just to be with the people they love. With this in our minds, what food will you prepare for the upcoming Christmas feast? Thanks in advance for sharing!

This year, my brother and my sister and their family will not be coming home from abroad so it will only be my parents, my husband and my son whose going to celebrate Christmas eve. The food that were going to serve this Christmas eve will be a lot less compared to the ones that we have last year when everyone was here to celebrate. It's going to be a quiet Christmas celebration. My mom and I decided that we're just gonna cook spaghetti with meatballs, buko salad(young coconut mixed with fruits and milk and cream) and leche flan for dessert, mechado(beef cooked in tomato sauce)and grilled pork. That's it. That's our plan for Christmas eve feast.

It's sad when loved ones won't be able to make it but nevertheless, what's important is spending Christmas well with other members of the family. It does not matter if the food. Have a happy Christmas!

My sister-in-law is currently studying culinary in their convent and she says she has some delicious meals to serve this coming Christmas. We've just finished buying the ingredients and from the looks of them, we're up to cuisines we've never tasted before. My mouth is already watering with excitement.

hi liz!
like i said in another similar discussion, i will be celebrating christmas eve with my daughter and wife and we will be spending it at my parent's home. we will be sharing 'mechado', and the traditional fare of bread, ham, 'quezo de bola' (another fancy name for cheese to our non-filipino friends out there at mylot), and hot chocolate. we will also have fruit salad and fruits such as apples, grapes, pears, and my favorite chico.
for me nothing is more important that sharing this christmas eve meal with my loved ones.
hope everyone's 'noche buena' is great!
cheers!!!

Chrismas is really just around the corner and I can't wait! I thought I wouldn't be as excited as when I was younger, but I just can't help it. Everything is taking it's rightful place in my life. I feel so blessed and favored, and I thank God for everything! I hear a lot of Christmas carols wherever I go. Actually, I've been hearing them since September. ^_^ I also see a lot of people crowding malls and markets, buying new clothes, toys, shoes, grocery stuff, etc. I see houses adorned with Christmas lights and everything that states: Christmas. At home, I remember that my mom never failed to prepare salad (macaroni salad if it's Christmas, fruit salad if it's New Year!). It's my dad who does the cooking but never too extravagant during Christmas. New Year is a different story, though. This year, aside from the salad that my mom will prepare (for sure), I think we'll have pasta, fried chicken, pork barbeque, ice cream or cake or both (which I will definitely provide), etc. (it's Dad's call..lol!).

It really is. In fact I turn off the electric fan at night because it is already getting chilly. Wow, that's cool that your dad is doing the cooking. What is his specialty? It's okay if it's simple food as long as its tasty. I like what you enumerated the pasta, fried chicken, pork barbecue, ice cream, cake. I am starving all of a sudden...hope you can post pictures of the food in the near future. Yum yum yum
