Did you meet your current partner via the internet?

I met my husband on the internet in 2003 purely by accident. The pair of us were in a chat room we had not been on before. Remember Freeserve? At the back of my mind were words that my clairvoyant had told me. He said, "You will meet someone in an unconventional manner, he will not be a local man but someone from Cumbria. This man will make you very happy and marriage may be on the cards!" Hmm, I thought! Subconsciously I clicked the name Cumbrian32 and the rest is history as they say!
How did I know he wasn't a nutter? Well, for a start he did not ask me what my bra size was or even for a pic. In fact, the first time he knew what I looked like was when he first visited the house about a month later! He had had a few rejections due to him beaming off a pic of his passport photo (not very flattering) but I saw through all that and realised that he was a very nice man. In fact, he was much better in the flesh so I am glad I wasn't shallow and rejected him just because he had ginger hair. It did help that he could type! That enabled us to chat online and have virtual conversations. Of course, we would speak to each other on the telephone as well but we had fun on the internet and we knew straight away that "marriage was definitely on the cards!" We got married in April 2008 some 5 years after we first met.

When I met my spouse, internet was just a new thing. So we just met the conventional way while we both in college. But it's so interesting to read how you and others met through internet. And I've also heard of not so successful stories about meeting someone through internet.

When I met John in 2003 (online) I don't remember seeing any Dating Sites at all. We communicated via the Messenger service and in the chat room side of things the lunatics stood out like a sore thumb. I guess I knew what to look for even before I communicated with him. Not everyone does though, unfortunately, whether it's a chat room or Dating Sites.

Ya I know for every 10 success stories there are probably 100 horror stories about online dating. There are many sick people out there that take advantage of unsuspecting women whether it be through assault, robbery, or other horrific incidences. I wouldn't recommend taking the online route normally, but there are sick people offline too so I am not sure of the statistics on the amount of crimes offline compared to online.

I met my wife online so I can completely relate to this story. I met her in a poker room and she was instantly drawn to me and felt comfortable with me from the start. We met in person the first time via me flying cross country to visit her in her home state. I was completely respectful to her online and in person. We have a wonderful marriage.

I met my husband on the internet. We were both members of the same friendship/dating site, my husband noticed my profile, and one day he sent me an email. I liked the things he wrote, and I became interested in knowing him better, so I replied and we exchanged mails for a while. On Valentine's day last year we decided to meet for the first time. We went to café where we drank coffee and talked a lot. We got along really well, and we both wanted to meet again. Later we became a couple, became engaged and moved in together. In May this year we got married

Hi!
So sorry for the delay in replying. What a lovely story. It just goes to show that not all people are "bad" on the internet. I can tell you are good at expressing yourself through written words and I think that helped with me and John (my hubby). He does a job where he types a lot and I did at the time so it was second nature to communicate this way.
Glad I fell for him when I met him though!
