I am using AVG 9.0 free edition. Are you willing to pay for the protection of your computer? Or you think that your computer skills are great enough to block away viruses and hackers?

For the computer my family uses I installed the free version of AVG. My computer has some valuable and sensitive files on it, so I purchased McAfee for it. I have kept it for several years and it is excellent. I have configered it so that it not only protects against anything incoming, it also prevents Internet access for programs already on my computer, except for the ones I specifically select. It once detected a "Ping" request that was suspicious and asked me what it should do. There was an option to try to track it to its origin. I chose that and in about three seconds McAfee informed me that the header on the request indicated it came from a Microsoft site in California but it had been traced. It went to California from Mexico and, with a couple of different sites in between, originated in Sri Lanka. Wow! Of course I denied the request.

I need to redownload and reinnstall an anti-virus program. I just haven't been able to find a truely free one without strings attached. I was using macefee but had to let the subcription run out because I couldn't aford the "protection."
Though with verious anti-virus sites out there and program, the thing is always finding "something" You tell it to delete it and by the next scan its back so yeah. So far I haven't really had a need for it computer seems to run faster without it.

Yeup. I'm willing to pay. I use my cable service providers antivirus software, just pay nine bucks a month and I get great protection. I don't have mad skills when it comes to protecting my computer.
