Hello friends
Now a days, I am forgetting things very quickly. Sometimes it will put me in a very guilty situation. One day I forgot to close the main door and the next day morning when I went to open it, It was already wide opened. sometimes I will forget to lock the door and go to market, open my almyrah and take some cash to pay some bill and forget to close it. cook the entire food but forget to cook the rice. Some times I will light the stove and keep the cooker on it but forget to put anything inside. Every day I am spoiling something or the other due to this problem. I do not know why this is happening with me. Until a couple of months back, I had a very sharp memory but not now. My son calls me over phone and ask me to pass on some message to his father. But after I hang the receiver down, i will forget what he said. Does this happens to you? Do you remember things? Please share with me.

Hi vatsala!
I can tell you it is all happening because of you indulging in mylot......lol! Mylot is an addiction and you indulging in it quite often, will make you forget many important things...lol! On a serious note pl. Do not worry about forgetfulness, it happens with all of us and you are not an exception. Our brain sometimes remains pre-occupied with many things and we tend to forget some of them. I also sometimes forgets things like you and feel bad about it.

Hi Vathsala!
Oh! It is great to know that I hit the deck and found out the reasons for your forgetfulness.. Mylot is really addictive and discussions and responses here can make you think, even when you are off line. Please try to concentrate on the activity which you are doing, rather than allowing your mind to wander here and there.

PS - (Needless to say that same things happens with me too)

Hi deepak
I think you hit the bull's eye. I too am having the same impression but I am addicted to it. While doing any work, my mind will be hovering around the discussions, or how to give comments and regarding the other site related thoughts, will be moving in the mind. So even when the boiling milk is going into the sink, simply my eyes will be seeing the thing but since the mind is somewhere else, I do not know what is happening until my children or husband comes and scolds me.

Yes. This is happening to me from a long time. I go to fridge, forget why I went there. I made lemon rice and forgot to put lime juice to that. One day instead of tiffin box, I took chilli box to the office. One day I wore saree in reverse and saree falls were visible outside. Do not know how many saw me and laughed to themselves, till I noticed it. Worst incident is, I shifted my house. On the second day of my shifting, after shopping, I went to my old house. The same thing I did for my friend's house also. I think we are thinking too much about so many things and half of them is wasteful thinking or may be due to our age this is happening.

You are correct. This is happening not because of my age. But because of I am under going some sort of depression or tension. I am unable to neither overcome nor solve or help but silently undergoing all alone.

Your comment gives me sad reaction. Sometimes it is better to share especially depressions with someone close to you to reduce the burden of the worry. May be you will get some solution or help. Talk to someone who is dependable and a true wellwisher.

In can be forgettful when I have a busy time in my life. I took my toddler son to a hospital appointment at 10.40 at the Royal Hospital For Children however we had really had an appointment at Frenchay Hospital at 11.00. I phoned to say sorry and ask if I could get a taxi there and the consultant said no. I went out shopping and forgot that my son's play group leader was going to visit. I have bought as box to keep all times and dates in so I don't forget. Sometimes forgetting can be a lack of enough vitamins, age or stress. Good luck.

Hi maximax
How is your son now? Is he OK? I like toddlers and always play with them. I am worried about your toddler's health.
Actually forgetfulness causes because of lack of interest or may be tension and depression, where we will be immersed completely forgetting things and recollecting the things which is the cause for our tension or depression. Thanks dear for your valued views shared with me.

Hi vathsala,
Forgetting something or other is quite natural but your problems seems to be something serious. I think you have to keep a diary to keep the memory alive, write down the important things at once so that you can refer that diary later. I think age is having its own role. But you can exercise your brain by trying to remember some numbers, especially mobiles numbers of closed people etc. If you give work to your brain then it will do more works for you.

Hi sree
Actually I am forgetting the things because, I am an absent minded professor and careless to the core. My mind will be present somewhere else while doing some other work. So due to lace of concentration and carelessness or over confidence about myself may be such things are happening. My close friend Neelima, Deepa and my own sister's phone numbers are to be called by seeing the diary only till date. So whatever work I want to do for today, I will write it in a paper and keep it in the kitchen and every now and then, I will check it so that I will do the work without fail and in time.

Hi prabha
You wanted to prepare a list but to prepare a list, you will forget. Nice joke yaar, really I was laughing because it too happens to me but a little bit different. Actually I will keep the things somewhere and forget the place where I kept. So I will keep it in a particular place and think that it will be easy to locate. But when I need it very urgently that particular place also I will forget and search the entire house by making a mess removing the entire things from the cup board, almirah, wardrobe and every where and go without it. After some days while I was searching for some other thing, this will be located in my dressing table itself.

Hi bairuv
You are right and I am unable to cope up with the tensions and depressions which I am under going since some days. I am unable to find any solutions either. Only waiting for the time to solve my problems. To forget something, I am keeping myself busy sitting in front of the computer which gives me some solace. Thanks for responding my friend.

Hi, vath. I have a tendency to forget things too. It is a natural habit. I may forget to bring something to a person. And there are times when I can remember everything that happens and what I have to do. But, I usually will remember everything that I need to do. The simple things, I may forget. They say as we get older we all have a tendency to forget things as we age. Maybe this is what is happening to you. If it becomes severe, you may need to consult with a prefessional doctor whom specializes in Amnesia.

Hi cream
Your username is yummy and I liked it my friend. I do not want to consult any doctor as I lost interest in life after all I lived all these years happily and a contended life. Before I become too old to walk and become totally dependent I wish to walk out from this world with the sweet memories of mylotting and you all. Thanks for responding my friend

Yes my friend. I have mentioned only a few. Actually what ever work I do, due to absent mindedness, I will forget to complete it. like I will open my geyser tap and forget to close it, forget to switch off the lights or gas stove where milk is boiling. I do not know whether this is a disease or due to tension and depression which I am under going since some days.

Hi. I am not forgetful of other things except the names of people newly-introduced to me. I really find it hard to remember names unless I meet them again. I've been like this ever since. To remedy the situation, I would always write the names of people I've recently met in an event. I would also write distinctive characteristics/qualities I have noted about the person. That way, I could remember hi/her easily.

Unfortunately, with old age, people tend to forget things a lot easier. However, some people, even within the range of 12-18 do forget things a lot. Forgetting to do things is indeed a bad thing because it can cause severe consequences. Forgetting can always be caused gene wise, so if any person in your family has problems to remember something, then that could be the cause. If it's not this case, then it could be a result of an accident to your head a while back.
As for me, Most of the time, I do remember most things however there are some times where I completley forget, just like you but usually I would remember 5minutes afterwards.

Hi borg
This is because, now a days our lives are becoming hectic day by day. In these rat raced life we need to mind so many activities without any help. In olden days, joint family will be there. So people will be there as a helping hand and the work will be distributed but not now. In time we need to look after so many tasks all alone. So always tension. i think this is the main reason not only for me but to the younger generation too. Thank you for responding my friend.
