My handwriting isnt good, but isnt bad thou. But with the invention of computers, printers, e-mail, blogs, people don't write as much as in the past. How is your handwriting? For you, is handwirhting important nowadays? Do you prefere to write with a pencil, or with your computer?

I'm from China, my handwriting is OK hehe. I remember I execised my handwriting when I was at primary school, each summer vaction my father will ask me to exceise it. Some people say the handwriting will reflect what kind of person the writer is. I think it's an attitude that what kind of handwriting you would wish to be. That's true that people write less and less nowadays, but I think handwriting is still important, at least to yourself, cause it's unic and some sort of sybmol of yours like your signature.

yeah, handwriting is not as important as it was in the past.
I remember that when I was a kid, I used to practice handwriting a lot. In junior middle school, I got a first prize in pen handwriting competition. One year later, when I was in grade three, my handwriting became a disater. due to mountains of homework, I did not have time to write carefully but carelessly.

hahahaha... My handwriting was always bad, since i was a kid, and now that i don't have time, my handwriting is the same, but a little better i thing (because i had to practice too, not that it changed anything, but my teacher was always giving my homework). For me, the most important thing is what is writen, not how it was writen.

Hi, Handwriting according to me is a cultivated art. No matter how advanced we are , one gets a lot of pleasure and appreciation while coming across a well written clear handwriting. We should try to cultivate it , more so now because of all those factors that you mentioned....Have a great Sunday

i don't think so. I myself would prefer to do typing on the computer than to do handwriting. It was simple thing I think. I don't have a big burden in doing that. Also, people nowadays want to write everything instantly. So that, typing is the best way to overcome this problem.

I think handwriting and grammar are still important, but maybe not as important as it use to be. because of all the technology such as internet and other technology there just doesnt seem to be as big of a necessity as it was just few years ago, but I think its still kind of important to have decent grammar, and handwriting, because there will always be somthing in our lives that will require that we be able to write well, though unfortunately my handwriting is bad but hope that maybe someday it will improve a little, because having bad handwriting can be just a tiny bit embarrassing lol.

I think that handwriting is important as it says a lot about you as a person! As you say, lots of people are choosing to use the computer these days in order to write letters, send emails and so forth. I don't write much myself but I'm sure that I heard it mentioned somewhere in the past that if you have nice handwriting then it gives out a message that you are organised, whether this is true or not I don't know, I'm organised generally anyhow. I love writing on the computer now as I'm a typist and this is a faster method for me to use. Andrew

hi tatutino,
I prefer to still have small notes and write things with pencil or ballpen. But, I also like having notes on my pc/laptop/notebook especially some schedules and important stuff. My handwriting is good and I think my penmanship is nice and legible. Like you, I still like writing "old school" way.

Most of the writing I do using my computer - my faithful 'ms word'! But if we do not write with pen or pencil at all then how on earth can we maintain our signature on our cheques and other documents? Our signature will be downright rejected if it does not match the bank records for example. So friends do your copy work as you would have done when you were a kid in school!!!

I understand where you are coming from about handwriting. Well I think its important to know how to write by hand but with the advances in all our modern technology we are using computers for almost everything. My handwriting isn't the greatest either and its easier for me to type on a keyboard these days.
So to answer your question I would rather use my computer but I am thankful that I can also write by hand (:

My writing is very good, many people said that it was as good as if it was typed but not writen. I think that handwriting is still important nowadays, though it's less used than before. Sometime it's a mean to identify the people. When I send a card to someone I love, I always write my wishes by my own hands, though I can design the same words by computer because I think it's more sentimental for the receiver to see my scriptures. I also prefer to write on paper than type on screen as I do the former faster than the latter.

Hi dear!
With the advent of computers, laptops, note books and mobile handsets the modes of communication are changing fast. Writing with the help of a pen is decreasing, specially those who are not studying for any course etc. Pl. Do not worry he your handwriting is not good it does not mean that you are not good person.

Yup, they are still valuable as signatures or personal handwriting is still requires in signing documents unless one is illiterate that a thumb mark is acceptable to use in legal transaction. technology helps a lot but it also makes the people feel lazy thus in signing for personal handout nothing beat a personal handwriting than messages written by the person who writes this discussion.

Good hand writings are not expected now-a-days...
Only during the school days we will be concentrating on hand writings, after you completed your schooling no one will force you to make you writing beautiful.
Even my handwriting will be worst and I never bothered about that but I'll be confident in making it legible...
In my country there is a famous saying "Who are having beautiful hand writing won't have better future"...
But I've never never met any such facts...

Hi tatutino,
You are right. People tend to write with the computer rather then pencil or pen nowadays. Some of my friends still need to draft with pens first and then type the passage on the computer. They said they cannot write on the computer but just type on it. I can draft with both my computer or pencil. To me, they are just the same. However, I think that handwriting is so important. People who have good writing give me a better impression. Chinese believe people who with good handwriting corresponds to a better character and usually well-behaved. Most of the people in Hong Kong,a city of China, do not care about handwriting, and many of them's handwriting are not good. However, people in mainland China are usually taught to practise their handwriting when they are in school, and learn Chinese colligraphy at any age, too. Therefore, many of them's handwriting are good. I like practising my handwriting, too.
Have a good day!
