Cure/help for sore throat

My fiancé seems to have a sore throat which he's had for a couple of days now and is still getting worse.
Have tried giving him Strepsil type losengers.
Any ideas for a cure or anything to make it even slightly better?

They helped the first time but now it's worn off and he says it feels worse.
