I've read that beetle shells are used to give lipstick the red shades. So I guess the smorgas board to fish and bugs is followed by dessert, which is the kiss, of course. Here goes....MMWWAAH!
Are you full now? LOL..good to see you P1key! I know that you are just passing through, but it's good to know you haven't forgotten us. How is the recovery coming along? Everything ok now?

I can certainly understand you wanting to kiss everyone out of happiness of having the boss beginning to feel like herself again. I hope it wasn't thinking of your own culinary skills that made you think about fish scales. Poor woman...no wonder she's anxious to get back in the kitchen.

That is so funny. Apparently the fish scales are very expensive, so only the good stuff is likely to have fish scales. The less expensive brands use the natural mineral mica or bismuth oxychloride flakes to get that shimmery pearlesencent kissable look. Mica is mined all over the world - India, China, US, Canada, South Korea, Africa, South America - to name a few.
Bismuth Oxychloride is a blend of copper and lead (a heavy metal) that provides the pearlized look, and should be avoided at all costs because it can be harmful to the skin. It is found in a number of brands of mineral cosmetics and may cause rashes and mild to severe cystic acne.
It seems fitting that the toad should be kissed by a fish to turn back into Prince Charming.

No, I'm glad to say that I don't! That's an interesting fact though.
I hate lipstick; apart from the fact that it makes me look like a man in drag (attractive! ), it makes my lips tingle, itch and burn. And this makes me very suspicious of all the horrible, harmful things that are contained in lipstick. Although I was thinking more chemicals rather than fish-bits!

Hi, p1kef.. I do wear lipstick from time to time. And I don't see the lipstick as fish scales. It is kind of yucky to think about it like that. At least the lipstick does not smell like fish scales. If it did, I would never apply it to my lips!

Hey p1key! Great to see ya! Glad to hear the Boss is doing
well and you were able to stop by! I had never heard about
fishy stuff in lipstick either! I happen to hate the stuff
myself, but my Mom said that when you get older you MUST wear
it to brighten up your face! So, now I have just one more
reason to hate wearing lipstick! But, I'm in line for one
of YOUR sweet fishy kissys! "Smack"! Hugs, Opal

If you're puckering up, I'm getting in line! And actually, I've known for probably, ohhh, ever about fish scales in lipstick. Not such a pleasant thought, but only one of the many sacrifices we face and horrors we endure in pursuit of beauty.
Listen sugar, if fish scales are what it takes for you to pucker up, then fish scales it is! Hmmm, just think. When you, Mr. P1kef1sh, kiss, aren't you depositing some of your own scales upon our waiting lips? Not such a sacrifice after all, I reckon.

Eeewwwww!! Just another reason why I'll never wear lipstick! I tried it once, years ago, and it felt so gross on my lips that I threw it away and never wore it again. Maybe that's what makes some of the lipsticks shiny?

hi pikefish wow thats one I did not know, but I am pale anyway and if I do not use mylipstick people are continually asking
me are you all right? Of course I am all right, I am just naturally pale people. Of course I am slightly anemic but that
is not something I wish to discuss with a stranger. So fish scales not withstanding, I will have to just go on kissing
the fish as I apply my favorite shade of color to a rather
colorless face. smooches to you too. he he

Yup! I used to work for a cosmetic company. We made lipstick in the manufacturing plant, and I knew that one of the ingredient was pearl essence, which came from fish scales. I always thought it funny. But our marketing group didn't seem to mind, as long as the shades looked good and it sold well.
