a nephew of mine takes a cat for a pet, he's only 3yrs. old but just like his mother, he loves cat very much. however, i am so worried one time when he was bitten by his pet although this was taken care of right away, the rabies concerns me a lot. i have learned that cat bites are more likely to cause infection than dog. and i have research 'bout this concern and here are few tips or best ways to care for dog or cat bite that i wanted to share;
if the skin is broken but not torn, and bleeding is limited, wash the wound thoroughly with soap and water. apply an antibiotic cream and cover it with a bandage. if you haven't had a tetanus shot within the last five years, you may need to get a booster.
if it's a deep puncture wound or the skin is badly torn or bleeding, apply pressure and seek immediate medical care. after the would is cleaned and treated, you may be prescribed an antibiotic and given a tetanus shot if you haven't had one in five years.
watch for infection in the hours and days after the bite occurs. seek immediate medical care if you experience pain, swelling, redness around the wound, a red streak extending from the would, or pus draining from the bite.
your pet's bite may also transmit certain disease that can cause fever, headache, and flu-like symptoms. again, seek medical care immediately if you develop these symptoms after a bite.
it's also important to keep your pet's immunizations current, if a biting incident occurs -- whether provoke or not -- the animal should be confined and observed for 14 days.
if this can't be done, or in certain high-risk situations, your doctor may recommend that you receive rabies shots.
hope this can help you all my precious mylotters",)

felliana also watch the child for a fever. I am an elderly woman but was taking care of my old roommates cat while she was in the hospital. the cat scratched me hard, and my arms broke out in a severe red rash that itched like crazy and mynormal 97 temp was up to 100, when I got to the emergency room I found out that I had contracted cat scratch fever. they gave me antihistamines and sent me home. It only lasted three days but I was really miserable just from an ordinary cat scratch.

The most important thing about having a pet is how to take care of them. All pets need to be vaccine and check for your health and their health..
Theirs all kind of virus today..like birds flu, swine flu, and other more..
So we really need to vaccine our pets

Thanks a lot for shaing those informations.
I also think it is best if you should have all your cats and dogs vaccinated against rabies.
Prevention is always better than cure =)
