is facebook better ot orkut? share your views.

I guess it is only a matter of time until Facebook is the no.1 choice for social portal across the globe. Facebook is already a super popular portal for young and old around the world. Only certain places are not using Facebook, such as Brazil and China. It will be difficult to break into such market unless Facebook make adjustments such as flexibility in languages and following the trends of such countries.

I've never heard of Orkut before but I can definitely list down what I think are the positives and negatives to Facebook since I own one. The positives of Facebook: + the applications - I really enjoy the various applications that are on Facebook because they keep me entertained and makes social networking a lot more fun and beyond just 'wall-ing' and commenting each other; I especially enjoy the games =] + the chatting - the chat the Facebook added not too long ago makes talking to friends much simpler and faster; It's like an instant messaging program but very basic + messaging - Just like an email, you can privately (or publicly) message your friends + statuses - You can change your status whenever you want, you can let others know how you're feeling or what you're doing at the moment and others can 'Like' it and comment if they like + notifications/updates - Almost real time notifications that you can edit for what you want to be notified for when it happens. You get updates when you get a wall post or if someone comments on something + of course the usualy social networking site features such as pictures, wall posts, friending people, tagging pictures etc. This also goes for the updates from your friends whenever they add an app. or update your status and etc. The negatives of Facebook: - the application invites - They can get pretty annoying after you get a lot of them constantly - the chatting - I don't know about other people, but I tend to have a lot of windows open for the chat and so my chats run a lot slower. So basically the negative about this, is that you can't run too many chats at once because Facebook slows down. - statuses can get annoying/updates - This may depend on the friends that you have. Sometimes some friends just update their status way too much and you keep getting updates from them whenever they change it. Of course you can edit options but sometimes, you still want to know what they're up to. These are just some of the things that I noticed both good and bad. There are a lot more out there that I haven't put down but I hope that this list gives you a basic idea of what I think to be are the positives and negatives are of Facebook =]

I've heard of Orkut but don't know much about it. Facebook is way cool for me, and I will always love it. There are just lots of applications that up till now, I've yet to explore. So, I'm going to have to go with Facebook. But I should give Orkut a look to see how it is and all that.

Facebook is way way better than orkut. It has got everything in it. Orkut is just trying to copy what facebook has already done long before. I really don't thing nothing new in orkut but facebook i have everything that i need. My vote is for facebook than for orkut.
