God help me love Christmas

Hi friends,
You know when I was a child, like most children, I loved Christmas. But of course I did. I didn't have any of the responsibilities I have now being a mother of three almost grown children. Unfortunately we are a one income family due to back problems I have. So every day, every pay is a struggle and Christmas time all of a sudden you have to come up with 2 or 3 thousand bucks that you would never normally be able to get your hands on.
I know people say Christmas is about love and family and joy. Well that's what I used to think, but its not. Its about stuff. And it is just that, stuff. But we can never go back to the old days when someone would really appreciate some homemade cookies or a craft that you have done. No today they will go behind your back and laugh, that's not good enough.
Oh well, another Christmas will come and go and I will try and put on a happy face like I do every year for my children, but happy indeed....I am not.
Anyone else feel this way?
Cheryl

I'm in the same boat as you and I was just telling my grown daughter I hope that I can get into the Spirit of Christmas but right now I'm really not feeling it. I actually told her I can't wait for January 2, 2010 because then it will be all over. I haven't had a job in over a year which is scary in itself. So I don't really want to spend the money just because its Christmas. I really don't think its should be about the stuff. It should be only about "the birth of Jesus", Family and food. Just to bake and make Christmas gifts would be so much more fun then going to spend money on expensive stuff. So I'm buying very little and not using charge cards at all.

Christmas now is only for children and the real meaning of Christmas is not about material things is about the birthday of Jesus. Before material things is important but now I think the meaning is more important. You can celebrate Christmas as simple as you can I think your family going to understand it. We should be thankful that our family is been together this Christmas even if we don't have money.

hey why are you worried about so many things. Just praise and thank God and Jesus. You have been blessed with so many good things that there are some under privileged people who dont even get to see such things.

Christmas is always a joyful celebration of the year. It is not about big parties, expensive gifts, a lot of foods served in the table, or any material things. Christmas is not about worldly desire nor material things.. It is a celebration of our Dear Savior Jesus Christ. Let's celebrate Christmas by its true meaning and not just by its physical appearance. A happy Christmas is not the one with Christmas trees nor Christmas lights, but a Home with a family that is gathered together as one sharing the joy and laughter in the Christmas Eve. Merry Christmas To All.
