What do you use as a topper to your Christmas tree? Do you use an Angel? A star? or ???
We had used a star that was from our first Christmas togeather. But it got misplaced and we spent the money on an Angel wich is ok but I still like our star better for sentimental reasons of course.

I use an angel that we've had for many, many years. She gets put away in a plastic bag and looks almost as good as she did when we bought her. She's such a pretty angel that I'm tempted to leave her out all year, but then she'd get dusty and wouldn't look so pretty.

I agree dust is the enemy of things lovely like a Christmas Angel tree topper or any porcelain dolls. My MIL calls all those things dust collectors.

We always use a star and never used an Angel before, but I have seen the decorations at the shopping mall with the Angels on top of the Christmas trees, and they were very lovely. We used a golden star before, but we have been using a silver star for a few years already. It doesn't really glitter, but still it looks nice and pretty.

Our star is clear plastic with some silvery glitter pattern on it. And the glitter sparkles when you turn on the lights.

When I lived at home, each year we would switch what we would use on top of the tree. One year we would use an Angel and then the next year we would use a star. Since I'm in my own place my partner and I did the whole tree deal and I bought a star for the top of our tree. I'm quite happy with it and think I much prefer a star over an angel.

We have not gotten one yet this year. In past years we have had a star, but that star does not match the tree this year. I will probably pick up a star when I head out of the house today though; since the kids are complaining that we don't have one yet.

I have 2 trees this year. One in our living room. It is a 3 footer. It fits perfectly in the window. It now is home to our older and much lover St. Nicholas tree topper. Our larger tree that is in the tv room downstairs is now has a newer Star given to a family member who will be spending the holidays with us this year. I get the best of both. No Angel yet, but maybe one year soon.

Very neat with the St. Nicholas tree topper. I had a small table top one but like much everthing else stuff gets wrecked by curious kids & cats

I have always used a star on the top of my trees in the past. However, this year my daughter and her family are living with me so they are using all of their Christmas decorations. They have a beautiful angel on top of the tree.

My family has always used an angel but about 14 years ago my angel didn't light up so I took her off the tree and saw that the bulbs were black and some of the plastic was melted. If we'd had a live tree it could have burned up! I went out to get another one but they were all gone and I got a star, which I still have today. I probably should get another one as this one is old. I like the star now. The only angel I have is one my son made in kindergarten--when it was still legal to make such things in a public school. She's faded with age but still beautiful and brings back memories of my sweet little boy who has grown into such a wonderful man.

I'm glad you didn't use that angel. What a shame on that having to be tossed out.
And what a sweet memory of your son. You never know what they will or won't do in school anymore. Sometimes they'll surprise you as to what they will or won't do... same with Easter. Wich I understand to a degree as they don't want to upset a families religious views by bringing home a cute project that is of a different faith than their own.

Growing up my family was not religious, so we got in the habit of using a star. My husband, although raised Catholic, is not very religious now, and I am, but not so much that I go to church every week. So we've just always opted for the star, as an angel has religious meaning to us.

That makes sense to me Kat. I think we opted for our star way back when because a beautiful angel runs a heap more than a plastic star.

In my family, since I was a child my father insisted that every christmas we put a star because he strongly believes that the star has some religious connection of some sort. To respect him, when he comes to my house, I let him put a star on the top of my christmas tree. On the 25th, he would light up the star and just glare at it for several minutes.
I have had an angel topping before, but out of my own preferences, If I had to have anything at all on my christmas tree I would choose a star.
