Is Dhoni India's best captain ever?

i will tell Saurav Ganaguly is the best Indian captain I ahve ever seen. He joined as captain when Indian team was in very bad situation. Then He creted his own team by giving chances to youngsters like Yuvraj,Suresh raina,Irfan Pathan when Dhoni team becomes captain Team was already there, he is just guiding them to the sucess. I will not say Dhoni is not agood captain but his captaincy skills are not has been tested yet.

Dhoni - the best captain? NO way. he lacks by miles when it comes to crativity. heis not as aggressive as Ganguly, As thoughtful as Fleming or as tactical as Steve Waugh. The winning of the team is because most players are in form at the same time. Remember the disaster in the T20 World cup? One could see how much Dhoni has to learn to be a good captain in that tournament. Also in the ONe day series against australia. Couple of decision mistakes by Dhoni as a captain cost us two matches. He is a good captain because he is straight forward and good with all teammates.But like any other human being he too has his weaknesses. For example his liking for Ishant Sharma. He could have asked for giving Ishant Sharma rest so that the selectors could choose someone else and Ishant could get the much needed Break. Ganguly was the best Indian Captain till date. And I say so because he was the first captain that made the team believe they could win on foreign pitches. I know Kapil was a great motivator too but he was not as aggressive as ganguly when it comes to captaincy. Kapil was an aggressive individual but his aggression didnt always reflect in the teams performance.But Ganguly made aggression a team character. Also Ganguly supported the youngsters more than any other captain. Harbhajan, Yuvraj, Sehwag and Kaif were all groomed under his mentorship. Dhoni is good but there is way more for him to learn before he can be compared with the elites like Ganguly, Flemming, Waugh and Cronje.

Ya, you r right to some extent. But in my point of view, Ganguly was a captain, with his aggression, leading skills, and trust on youngster like yuvraj ,harbhajan,sehwag, Irfan pathan, etc. He created a aggressive team, he make believed to our cricket team that they can win on foreign pitch also. Dhoni is also came in indian cricket team, when ganguly was captain. When Dhoni became captain, the team is already made. He is a good captain, but call him india's the best captain is very soon, he have to run long way. I will be very happy, if India win world cup in his captainship. At last I would like to say; "Picture abhi baaki hai mere dost."

It's premature to declare Dhoni as the Best Captain of India. There is no doubt about the leadership quality of Dhoni, The T20 worldcup victory s the best example of his great work, but lets not forget the greatness of the former captains like Gangualy. Dhoni can be termed as one of the best captains of India,but not certainly the no.1. There is still miles to go before he will actually be the number1. However the records suggest that the future belongs to Dhoni. and India under his leadership can move ahead.

Dhoni is a very good captain and has proved beyond doubt that he can control his team and understands the psyche of the players in the team very well.That is why it performs well as a unit.He has also been lucky to have got a very fine team under him where every player fits his slot and there is bench strength as well as far as batting is concerned.The bowling is still rather weak with Kumble retiring.We need to find some good bowlers to really support Zaheer and Harbhajan on all kinds of wickets.It is said the captain is as good as his team.Dhoni is a good captain leading a good side.Would Ricky Ponting have as good a record as he has had he been leading Bangladesh?

Well it will be biased to say that he is the best captain ever. I mean this team on the top place is not something which happened in a day. It was a gradual process and that started from the time of Saurav Ganguly which cannot be denied. And then Dhoni was the best one to replace him. Dravid did tried but I always said that he did not have the leadership quality. Any ways Dhoni is a very good captain. More important is he does have the attitude and the temperament to handle the additional pressure of being the captain of the Indian team.

I can't really say if Dhoni is a very good captain. India has been doing well of late because they've stopped relying on one batsman to do their job for them. All the players in the team want to perform and do their part in the team. That is why they've been getting so much success in the recent times. Having said that, I think Dhoni is a confident player and that adds to the team moral which is a very positive influence in the whole performance of the team.

He is second best after Ganguly. Dada aka ganguly has been India's best captain till date but does not take anything away from dhoni who has done an absolutely fantastic job by taking India to the No.1 position in test rankings.

I agree with whatever you have said hardilaziz... Dhoni has influenced the team so much that everything has come out right for INDIA that now they have captured the no 1 spot in world cricket. His cool headed captaincy and his binding of each player is one major factor for INDIA and him to succeed. I definitely feel that he is one of the best captains that india has produced so far!!!
