hi opsharma..
1. 4 strokes engines are more fuel efficient compared to 2 strokes ones..
2. no need additional lubricants..less maintenance..longer lifespan..
3. no oily emission (worn out 2 strokes emit smelly smoke..)
but still,
1. 2 strokes have more acceleration (but have lower top speed)..
2. 2 strokes engines are lighter because of their simple construction..

Here in Philippines there is a law that 2 stroke motor cycle engine be replace by 4 stroke engine in 2010-2012 to promote environment consciousness, I've a bike before which is 2 stroke (Yamaha F1ZR) its reliable in terms of durability because it uses 2T engine oil that serves for engine cooling, the problems are you have to put 2T oil every 2-3 days, 2 stroke also have limited speed. The 4 stroke engine gives you high speed when running, low level of maintenance, durable in all weather and less smoke too.
